Guest guest
Hi, I am looking at a heart cath on Tuesday and an EPS study a week after that. I am scared to death of the proceedures. I have mild asthma. Now that they suspect heart trouble...they have taken me off all inhalers and I am only on Singular for asthma.....anyone else experiencing heart problems or had these procedures? Guest guest
Hi, Have you AHD any of the testing I mentioned for your heart? They are telling me I have tachycardia and that the flovent may have actually contributed to it. Jodi
Guest guest
Hi, I started experiencing breathing troubles after a trip in the snow in January. Then I was told I had asthma and started on flovent and serovent. In March went in for a re check and told I was mildly tachycardic....not to worry. The during a physical in April..told it was worse and needed treatment. I have had all sorts of tests......now these the heart cath, and electrical study, (EPS) and an MRI. My medication for arrythmias is working...had my first normal EKG in months the other day. Still, they are going to do the tests....ugh!!! I have been taken off all my previous medications, caffeine (did 3 coffees and 8-9 diet cokes a day) I have been active and athletic up to this point...it is like it came out of nowhere. No symptoms other than fatigue. I have been hospitalized once in May...after being told I could drop dead and became anxious and very tacky!!! Spent 4 days in CCU. Jodi PS I am 46. Guest guest
CM, Hi again. I cannot tell ya how much I appreciate your sharing. I feel so alone with all this. I am or was very active and this is driving my family and I nuts! It sounds like I will have to be more patient. I am on my 2nd cardio guy...he specializes in electrical troubles. I am on toporalXl for the arrythmias. Working well so far!!! Jodi

Guest guest
Yes Andy, I probably am, but I somehow think it's more pollution related. Yesterday we had a big rainfall, and last night, I felt better, this morning, it's back to warm muggy sunshine and I can feel it again.....Dot > Dot, are you allergic to mold? Mold tends to build up a lot on the muggy > days, and I know it bothers my wife. > > Andy
Guest guest
Jodi, heart, lung..... both work together. I've got an electrical problem with my heart and am on Serevent and Proventil, some Claritin during Allergy season. I have no idea why you were taken off your inhalers, for anything that makes breathing easier is better for the heart. C-M
Guest guest
Hi Jodi, Yes, I have had tachycardia and I've had all the tests you describe..they should switch your meds. Did you have to be 'paddled' out of your tachycardia? Heart cath is not so bad, just make sure you follow the instructions after the incision. Lot's of time they just do not know exactly what the problem is and need to put you through a battery of test to get to the bottom of it. All I know is that it took 2 years for me, another bad collapse before I found the right cardio guy, one that specializes in the electrical malfunctions of the heart. Was on all kinds of meds before that , that really did not apply to me. What brought on the tachycardia? The Flovent, alone? Do you have breathing problems all the time or just occasionally? C-M
Guest guest
Jodi, That all sounds familiar.. Do find a cadio guy that is specialized in electrical malfunctions.., Don't know how old you are, but if in your 30ties, often mitral valve problems give you those symptons, especially if that runs in your family. However, that is easily diagnosed with an ultrasound.. Flovent and Serevent is a potent mix, you might be better off with Serevent alone and Pulmicort. My electrical problems can tolerate both and the pulmicort has meade a big difference to me. It has cut the big attacks way down. The coffe is a trigger for electrical problems, as a matter of fact they do tilttable tests for this problems giving you caffeine to see how your body is doing..I'v been of caffeine for 15 years now and know instantly when I even had too much chocolate.. How is your bloodpressure? Mine is naturally low and I have been told that was in my favor with this condition. Also, I went through 3 cardioguys, who did all the testing, wrinkled their brow and could not come up with anything specific, until I passed out bad and was hospitalized in a larger city close-by where I got the right Doc.At that time there were only 3 cardio guys in Michigan who specialized in this. Theory is that because of infant diphteria it left scarring and a malfunction in that part of the heart, which can 'pop' out again during menopause, can get better when through menopause..I am doing OK.. But the fatigue is part of it. Get to know our body, have a good physician that truly understands what is going on and you will be OK>> It's my cardio specialist who prescribes my asthma drugs, he knows how I 'tick' better than anyone else and has taken good care of me. ASthma Docs are not as finetuned to how your heart is doing as the cardioguys with a specialty in the electrical malfunctions.. Don't be scared, some internist, when I was in the mist of all this diagnosing and hospitalized in a emergency situation told my daughter that I would not be around to see her graduate, which gave me about 3 years..( I still could wring his neck..) And yes, with unchecked tachycardia, you can be inserious trouble..know the warning signs, make sure your family knows them and call for help. It's 12 years later and I am still kicking..maybe some days on slow speed but I am doing fine.. C-M
Guest guest
Jodi, I was 44 when my 'troubles' surfaced...My menopause was not bad, but took a long time, no snap, crackle, pop, done here.. Low bloodpressure is good, because Tachycardia can get you in stroke territory, that's what they worry about. However, you can also pass out easy or feel lightheaded a lot. Which is what I deal with. Than it's sit down, meditate, take the magnesium, access the situation and to take it easy for awhile. My native friend taught me to meditate like this when I am worried about my body and if it will function. I lay down and start giving thanks and envisions every body part I have, give individual thanks to every part, starting with my little toe, than the next, every muscle and bone I can imagine or know about in my body. Usually brings me right down to a normal level or I fall asleep. You would be surprised how well that works. C-M

Working well so far!!! >> That's good, if he pays attention to your system and how it works you will be fine. They do take all those tests to rule things out and it's a good thing. I know about the fear, and how this drives a family nuts, for one moment your are Ok, the next you think you are going to die..When all the tests are done and you have a good Doc, you will get a grip on this, I am sure.. Ask your cardioguy what Asthma meds will be compatible. If he is any good, he will know. Glad you have him. Contact me anytime, privately or on the list.
