Guest guest
I am on Duragesic and have been for almost 3 months. I have severe FMS along with CFIDS/MPS/RLS and have recently been DX with Epstein Barr Virus as having a very active case. I have been having abnormal blood tests and had to endure a bone marrow test in May. I still have been not given a DX for what is wrong with my blood. I have been using Lortab for many years and it was taking higher and higher doses to achieve any kind of adequate pain relief. This is NOT good for your liver or kidneys due to the tylenol. I was referred to a pain clinic by my Primary Care Dr. whom is an Internal Medicine Dr. The pain clinic (which by the way, is ran through an area hospital) started me on Duragesic in the 25 mg. strength. The only thing that was bad for me was reaching the correct dosage to manage my pain. I am currently up to 100 mg. patch that lasts 72 hours. I was just starting to reach my comfort zone and then BAM my right shoulder flared up. I believe I needed to be put on some other med for breakthrough pain as well. I am working with the pain clinic on my comfort zone now. I also take 1600mg of Neurontin which has helped my sleep and Restless leg Syndrome. It is my personal opinion that this medication should be dispensed for Fibromyalgia through a Family Physician and not just a pain clinic. It is very controlled medication. You can't be using it to get high.......it is delivered through your skin in controlled amounts. You can't be selling it for a high, it has no value as a drug to get " high. " This is a wonderful drug for chronic pain patients. It should be made more easily available for patients who have exhausted all other efforts for pain relief. Happy 4th to all and may it be painfree!
