Thanks for the song, .

I was watching a movie on Hildegard of Bingen last

night who reminded me that although God's word was

incarnated in her conception, so was His song also.

Words and music. Beautiful.

And, just so you know, I keep a spare pair of red

shoes for anyone who wants to dance around this fire.

in the dance,

Where would you ever get a movie on Hildegard von Bingen? I had never heard

of her until about 15 years ago. Is it to be bought?

Thanks again, , for setting us up on group email. As we become

familiar with how to use the site, it will be a perfect venue to post

questions (like the ones that have been going around) and have the replies,

answers, and resource information right there to read.

I agree wholeheartedly that everyone at the Forum would be interested in

hearing about the Drug Assistance Programs. Even though we, as a Children's

Hospital, may not have the same problems as adult hospitals, we still run

into situations where drug co. assistance is the last option (i.e. we have

heart patients who are in their 20's, and some pt's who don't qualify for

PA). I'd love to hear some concrete advice on how to navigate their

process.

, where is that corn you are speaking of?? I can't wait till August

when the shuckers get out there in full force. (My friend shucked for ONE

day, and said it was the toughest job he's had). And thanks for the legal

research you've been doing!

I dont think you can categorically state that one process is better than

about. And for both types, there is a whole lot of difference between

someone who makes soap for a living and someone who does it as a craft. The

, I never said it was better. <G> I did point a difference. A person

can

make soap, or a person can take made soap and make it smell pretty and be

It takes a lot more experience and knowledge to design a recipe that is great

of the two skills.

Now when you put them together, you can get some very interesting soap. <G>

Not meant to put down melt and pour soapers in the least. I just think there

is more to experience when you start from scratch. = )

Dee,

This suggestion is meant to show a method of dispersing the color that you

would use in a soap or an emulsion to eliminate the agglomerations of the

pigment. I would not recommend making a stock dispersion of a pigment in

this manner or using this vehicle. In the instance referenced below I used

glycerin in the example because some soapers add glycerin to their products

besides that which is made in situ.

An alternative for dispersing ultramarine colors or other inorganic pigments

would be to use some of the oils that you would use in a batch of soap.

Again, the proper method of doing this would be to remove an aliquot of the

oils and disperse the pigments with the blender. Mix for 5-10 minutes at the

highest speed. Add this blend back to your soap oils and continue with you

process as you normally would. Because pigments by definition are insoluble

they must be dispersed in the product to achieve the desired color. Dyes,

are soluble colorants and a solution can be added to your product to dye it

to the desired shade. Dyes give their color by means of transmission of

light while pigments give their color because of reflectance of light.

Dye solutions, if not consumed immediately after manufacturing must be

preserved. There are only three exceptions to this rule and they are the

three oil soluble colors, D & C Red 17, D & C Yellow 11 and D & C Violet 2. All

other dyes are water-soluble and must be preserved if you make a stock

solution to use in multiple batches. Most dye solutions are used in the

0.05-0.50% range. There will be some exceptions to this depending on the

intensity or strength of the dye. Unless you are manufacturing very large

batches of product it is best to stay with the dilute solutions; you will

have far fewer problems. Also, unless you have a scale or balance with good

resolution, milligram or better, then you should stay with the dilute

solutions. A very small difference in the amount of dye weighed directly

into a batch can have very dramatic and unforgiving results in a batch while

a dilute solution can be somewhat forgiving to weighing errors.

a Waring Blendor or an Osterizer. In fact Osterizer has something called a

mixing. >>

Sort of like making a paste color and adding as needed? Is that what you

suggest ? It is is only untramarine and glycerine then you say in an

earlier post it is best to add a little preservative?

Dear Greg,

You and your family will be in my thoughts, with much love, in the days to

come. must have been a very special young lady to have touched so many

lives in such a short lifespan and be able to rest in peace now. As we say

in the Jewish tradition when we hear of a death, I wish you Long Life.

Dear Greg,

my heart goes out to you and your family and I will remember all of you in

my prayers.

" I'll lend for a time a child of mine " He said.

" for you to love the while she lives

and mourn for when she has died. "

It may be six or seven years

or twenty two or three,

But will lend you, till I call her back

Take care of her for me?

She'll bring her charms to gladden you

And shall her stay be brief

You'll have her lovely memories

As solace in your grief.

I cannot promise that she'll stay

Since all things on earth return,

But there are lessons taught down there

I want this child to learn.

In my search for parents true

and from the throngs that crowd life's lanes,

I have selected you.

Now will you give her all your love

Nor think your labor in vain

Nor hate me when I come to call

To take her back again?

I fancied that I heard you say,

" Dear Lord, Thy will be done.

For all the joy thy child will bring

The risk of grief we'll run

We'll shelter her with tenderness

We'll love her while we may

And for the happiness she will bring

We'll forever grateful stay.

But should your angels call for her

much sooner than we had planned

We will brave the bitter grief

and try to understand.

author unknown

I feel great sadness today and I know the pain your sister feels, if she

would like to write I will be here.

Comfort and love for your family, I pray

RoseAnn

Dear Ghazaleh and others who sent you kind thoughts and prayers about

's death. I am just now able to see through the emotional fog I've in

for several weeks now. 's funeral was wonderful, attended by nearly

2000 people. Quite overwhelming that in her few years she touched so many

lives so deeply, as witnessed here on JF as well. Now the healing begins.

You have helped me more than you know.

Love and many thanks to you all,
