Guest guest
Laurie, I agree with both & Beth. A maitre d' at a local restaurant I frequent was absent for a while & I inquired about her. Comes to find out she had a sore throat (untreated) and ended up in ICU (Intensive Care Unit in a hospital). She has been in there over a month. I do not remember what the diagnosis was. To complicate things she is/was a heavy smoker. It is hard to say how much longger she will remain in ICU and in turn in the hospital. Gerard > Laurie, Have any of those sore throats been diagnosed as strep infections? More to the point, has your doctor done a culture of your throat to find out what organism is causing the infection and exactly what antibiotic works best against it? Sore throats caused by streptococcus bacteria can cause problems much more serious than just the pain in yourk throat, and should be treated promptly and agressively. Just my nursing past kicking in, but I am going to worry until you tell us that strep has been ruled out. People care about you. W.
