Libby Basically it is a large saucepan with a crockery insert that you can do soups, stews, roasts etc. in and it cooks it ever so slowly and evenly while you are at work or in bed. There are two speeds on mine, high until it bubbles and then low for the duration. It is a time saving way for women who work to have dinner on the table as soon as you walk in the door. It cannot over heat or burn the food, it is a gentle, slow cooking process and the results are really tender meat and vegies.
