I've been doing a lot more reading on Oxytocin since I am now on day 20 of having a very active libido since starting this bio-identical form of the hormone. (This is from a zero libido 98% of the time.) I thought I'd share some of what I found since this is the first truly significant improvement I've experienced in the past three years. Still all new to me but the following research regarding both drug induced damages and sexual issues are compelling.

I'm bumping this thread. Can't believe no one else is discussing it.

Yes, I did have genital anesthesia. I would say that it is about 75% better so

far. It has been a gradual improvement over the last 9 mos. with the most

significant in the last month. I'm hoping it will continue to improve.

In think it definitely caused my hypothyroidism. I had tests over the years

while on SSRI (I took for 12 years) & had no thyroid issues. It was not until I

came off them that my thyroid became hypo & needed to be supplemented. Same for

my other hormones. They also dropped off after stopping SSRIs.

Hi Man Where can I get some of this oxytocin gel, patch . To: SSRIsex Sent: Sunday, January 29, 2012 12:17:52 AM Subject: Re: Buspar (Oxytocin)

I've been taking it for 27 days now and started noticing something the second day. Have continued to have a libido ever since.

I guess the if the Dr. could answer that we'd all be knocking his door. Aside

from the " poorly written " (in terms of grammar)does anything there spark any

good insight? All along I have been convinced that this has a lot to do with

our neurotransmitters -- especially dopamine, and dopamine and serotonin

receptor damage. I definitely see fairly significant changes in moods,

motivation, sexual issues when I make changes to the amino acid therapy I do.

The problem is the results " bounce " around a bit. According to the Dr. I work

with on the amino acid therapy this is typical of receptor damage. I have been

doing the amino acid therapy for ~18 mos now and have overcome the anhedonia and

mood swings and have seen some flicker of a libido but that aspect has come and

gone for only a few days then can disappear again for many weeks. The amino

acid therapy has been very expensive (~$300+ per month). The oxytocin has been

the biggest catalyst for the boost of libido. I am now 30 days on and my libido

has been present from day 2-30. Some days are stronger than others but I guess

that is probably true of the average person without PSSD. Some days I have " sex

on the brain " where I think about it all day and other days it is much milder

where I don't think about sex 24/7 but could get turned out more easily than

before. I gotta say I like the " sex on the brain " days best!

that is really interesting. Ive been complaining to doctors about dullness where

my liver is but nothing really shows up in the blood test or scans other than

slightly elevated bilirubin. It feels like my liver is bloated or inflamed. I am

hoping soon I can do a endoscopy on my stomach to clear the possiblity that this

is a stomach issue. Ive already tried bunch of acid relfux drugs but nothing

helped. I think the article pretty good at explaining what PSSD could be. We

already know SSRIs kill HPTA.

maybe this is how PSSD happened.

SSRI screws liver -> HTPA shutdown or alteration (also effecting thyroid) due to

screwy neurotransmitter -> withdrawl from ssri, we are left with screwy liver,

thyroid, adrenal, hypogonadism, and low neurotransmitters

I'm not sure if all the Drs. in the BodyLogic network are aware of PSSD

or not. I'm only know that mine is aware of it from me and it is

through her affiliation with BodyLogic that she became aware of Oxytocin

and the sexual benefits some of the other Drs were seeing in prescribing

it. Some of the other patients seen by BodyLogic Drs may or may not

have had sexual dysfunction due to SSRIs. They may also have had it due

to other factors.

I have worked with my Dr. for more than two years now. When I wasn't

seeing relief of low libido & sexual function through taking

bio-identical progesterone and testosterone, she initially suggested

getting my neurotransmitter levels tested. Since this was not an area

of expertise of hers I did some research and found a naturalpath that I

have been working with for about 1 1/2 years on neurotransmitter testing

and amino acid therapy. Through the amino therapy I have been able to

eliminate the anhedonia and have had some sporatic moments of a libido

but nothing consistent. She has been aware of my plight and when they

had a recent national conference she thought of me when they discussed

Oxytocin. So far I've had some reasonable success with it. Some days

are better than others.

Here is a guide to Oxytocin. It also includes many ways to obtain it legally

within the US. The guy who writes the pdf describes his own experiences with the

different forms. He doesn't necessarily have an objective viewpoint, but he

describes the benefits of sublingual Oxytocin as lasting several hours.

, are you still noticing improvement?

I am still feeling the benefits of the Oxytocin in terms of ability to get

aroused but 3 1/2 weeks ago I had to make some significant downward adjustments

in my thyroid meds. It caused my libido to drop down as I went hypothyroid. (I

had switch brands of natural thyroid meds and did so too quickly and was having

heart palpatations and insomnia. I dropped the dose to less than half to get rid

of the sleep issues and have been slowing working my way back up to where I need

to be.) I will have to report back then when my thyroid levels are at the

appropriate levels.

I'll keep you posted.
