Guest guest
Thanks for bringing up this subject, Stacie. I'm finishing week 2 post- op, and I just took my bandages off 2 days ago. The scars are not frightening at all, but I'd really like to know how to minimize them in the long run. You know, for me, healing the emotional scars will need some care and attention also. Guest guest
Don't know what happened to my post from last night...anyway, after my implant surgery I used Biodermis in my bra, with great results. I tend to keloid and this def. helped keep my scars flat and to fade. Rogene is correct, they are silicone sheets, but I had no problems with them against my skin(my exp. only). You can search the web for Biodermis to learn all about them. Hope this helps you in your healing!
Guest guest
Hi Rogene, I know this is slightly off topic, but what have you discovered to be the best cream/lotion/oil to reduce the unsightleness of scars? Guest guest
Thanks so much. I appreciate your advice and agree that time is miraculous that way. Just wondering if any of the scar products out there really make a difference. I'm lucky that I don't keloid so hopefully I'll be ok. IMHO, the best " treatment " is time. . . Unless you happen to have those thick scars that some people get. I think there are some products that may help, but sometimes it takes further surgery to get rid of the really bad ones. By the time they reach adulthood, I think most people know if they are prone to the Ketoid (sp?) scars. Guest guest
They are called Keloid scars--my sons gets them. They get very raised and puffy looking. Not a pretty thing. Thankfully, I did not get them. But I did have scars that were not as thin as I wanted them to be. Over time they have healed greatly, and now they are barely noticeable, but it took a long time. Most women will see great improvement after the first year. Mederma is the product that was touted as helping heal scars well. I think my plastic surgeon gave me some sample tubes after explant, but it was expensive and I did not buy more. I then tried Vitamin E oil, but I think I got ripped off on that one. I would have been better off just squeezing open a Vitamin E capsule instead! Guest guest
Rogene, I am not sure if it worked or not though... Seems like another gimic to me really... Not sold on that product... Besides it seems we just really don't need any silicone on us at all if we are getting rid of nasty silicone bags... Well here I go a new phrase Nasty toxic bags to nasty silicone bags, that is really what they are, saline filled silicone bags... We sorry off subject, but really not sold at all on Mederma for scars... It just seems like some type of jelly cream really, does it work or would my scars have been the same? Don't know so won't rave on that issue... Any how I wrote a new Poem tonight, inspired by our New Girl, boy I have missed this group... Guest guest
, I bought some last night and have already started on it actually. As soon as I saw the silicone in the scarzone.....the scarzone was gone! LOL! Your right, it so sad that we have to diagnose ourselves but I guess I am very thankful that we can. I have worked for Drs. for over 20 years and really never knew how clueless they really are. I thought they could take care of any problem you had but now that I have experineced this nightmare.......no they can't. I've seen enough Drs. in this lifetime in which I'm sure you have too.
