Hi

I just read your email on anti-inflammatories . I have yet to find one that

makes any difference in how I feel . You are very right on their effect on one's

stomach. I have

tried a suppository drug but it had no effect on how I felt. I also took muscle

relaxants

for a long while. I stopped them because the no longer worked. I had built up an

immunity to their effectiveness

Building up resistance to these drugs is a serious problem for anyone who

has to remain on them for any length of time. Like you, Joanne, they don't

really seem to help my pain, although they do (the anti-spasmodics, anyway)

keep the number of back spasms I suffer through at a more manageable level.

Having started on my waltz down the pharmaceutical path 14 years ago, and

at age 46 I hope to have a few more years remaining, it worries me to keep

having to increase the dosage of my medication. At some point I am going

to smack up against the ceiling - and then what?

Because of the Arachnoiditis I am not a candidate for any of the meds

dispensed by pump - which is the most effective way to deliver medication

in a long-term usage situation. My pain control clinic and physical

therapy has assisted in teaching me the proper way to move, but were not

successful in learning to control my pain by use of " mind over matter. "

Has anyone else on the list gone to pain clinics? Anyone else found it to

be a frustrating experience?
