We are talking about trade names of preservatives sold by the Sutton division http://www.ispcorp.com/products/hairskin/preserve/pres1.html of International Specialty Products (ISP). http://www.ispcorp.com/ The list of Sutton preservatives includes: Germaben II (INCI name:Propylene Glycol (and) olidinyl Urea (and) Methylparaben (and) Propylparaben) Germaben II-E (INCI name:Propylene Glycol (and) olidinyl Urea (and) Methylparaben (and) Propylparaben) Germall 115 (INCI name:Imidazolidinyl Urea) Germall II (INCI name:olidinyl Urea) Germall Plus (INCI name:olidinyl Urea (and) Iodopropynyl Butylcarbamate) Liquid Germall Plus (INCI name:Propylene Glycol (and) olidinyl Urea (and) Iodopropynyl Butylcarbamate) LiquiPar Oil (INCI name:Isopropylparaben (and) Isobutylparaben (and) Butylparaben) Suttocide A (INCI name:Sodium Hydroxymethylglycinate) Sometimes I use Germall II with Methylparaben and Propylparaben; if I'm lazy, I'll use Germaben II or Germaben II-E. Lately, I've been using Germall Plus with good success. Maurice ------------------------ Maurice O. Guest guest
Bettie, Germaben II is a blended antimicrobial product that contains ~56% propylene glycol, 30% diazolidinyl urea, and a blend of methylparaben and propylparaben. These components provide a synergistic blend of actives in a solvent that also shows some inhibitory activity. The best feature of Germaben II is the convenience of use. Young KY Labs Innovators of Fine Personal Care Products www.kylabs.com Germaban I'm a lurker here but this is a great list. My question is, What is the difference between Germaban II and Germall? Besides the parabens. Which do you feel is more effective? Guest guest
Maurice: That's why I was inquiring. I had not heard about Germall Plus. It sounds as though it's a good alternative in my creams as opposed to the Germaban II. I would never even consider selling this cream without some type of perservative to it. I really appreciate all of your and 's information on this. You two are a real wealth of information. Bettie
