Guest guest
Appreciate the comments about adults with autism benefiting from speech therapy. My son can say his wants and needs and I know he is more capable but I can't seem to get any speech services. We tried an assistive device earlier and he bombed out on it. All he wanted to do was stim on the keys. Much earlier a speech therapist used a little cannon and tried speech therapy. He asked some things that only he would have known to ask. The treatment center did away with the therapy when all of the facilitated issues came out and they fired the therapist. For awhile more recently, he had conventional speech therapy and we didn't see a whole lot of change. Then the therapist moved out of the transit systems catchment area for transporting the disabled and since then services have ceased. Had an assistive device eval a few years ago and the recommendation was to purchase a device that Medicaid would pay for, over $7,000, as I recall. It was just an expensive computer with very limited use, and I vetoed the purchase because I felt a computer could do more. However, found out the medicaid won't approve computers. So now we are at a standstill. Martha Moyer ________________________________________________________________ GET INTERNET ACCESS FROM JUNO! Juno offers FREE or PREMIUM Internet access for less!
