Hi Man Becareful with SSRIs ,as many people such as I have sexual side effects years after quiting. For me the evil drugs were ''Lexapro especially'' and Luvox was also a problem, I got PSSD after quiting those and I even took low doses. Wellbutrin coctail with Luvox also caused me to feel numb. The best Natural ways I can think of for you would be diet and exercise, fruits, vegetables, lean meats ,fish oil, organic eggs, nice girlfriend etc. Peace, Adam To: SSRIsex Sent: Sunday, April 8, 2012 5:04:43 PM Subject: I need advice

I have a long term problem of depression, I have tried many medications and talk therapies with limited or temporary successes. I did well on a cocktail of mirtazapine and sertraline but I discontinued it because of sexual and non-sexual side effects. Duloxetine worked too but made me impotent, thankfully that was reversed when I discontinued the medication.

I am fed up with medications and I am looking into transcranial magnetic stimulation and even ECT, electroconvuslive therapy.

Nevertheless at the moment I really need medication and I am on agomelatine 50mg but my psychiatrist wants me on nortriptyline too because I am just too unwell. Nortryptiline is a tricyclic antidepressant, an old type, pre-ssri, antidepressant.

I can already see already that diminishes my libido and makes harder for me to achieve erections, my doc suggests me to keep using it saying that sexual side effects could diminish with time, but I don't believe that, because in my experience with previous ADs that never happened. In any case he suggests I could use levitra or cialis.

I am in two minds, I really need to improve my depression because I am suicidal but I don't want to have sexual problems. Also I fear that tricyclics too, like SSRIs could cause long term sexual issues.

Do you have any advice? Thanks

I've had success with a number of medications, over the counter and prescription, to help combat sexual side effects. Wellbutrin brought back my libido and erections, but it greatly increased my anxiety, and it also seemed to turn me into an uncaring prick. It also dampened my appetite, so if you are trying to lose weight it might help there as well. Yohimbe, taken about an hour before sex, helped quite a bit, but it made me very jittery, hot, and I had to urinate every 5 minutes for the next few hours. Viagra (comes in 100mg tablets, but I could split them up into 25mg sections and still get the benefits) gave me rock hard erections but without the libido. I could have sex, but it wasn't as enjoyable. Nothing I've tried so far has completely worked for me, although about a week ago I gave choline/inisitol and vitamin b5

(pantothenic acid) a try.....and for two days, I had EVERYTHING back - libido, orgasms, everything. It's the closest thing I've found to a complete cure. I felt like I was 16 again (I'm 30 now). The downside is that it destroyed my stomach. I'll try experimenting with different variables - doses, times of day, with/without food, etc and see how it goes. Hope this info helps you out. Oh, and everything but the Wellbutrin is over the counter. Wellbutrin isn't hard to get though...its a common anti-depressant, and it is also given out for smoking cessation.DanSubject: I need adviceTo: SSRIsex Date: Sunday,

Hi,

I would like to suggest that you try Inositol 12-18 GRAMS a day. It can be

broken into two equal dosage with meals. Inositol is a dietary supplement which

has been proved to be effective in studies for depression, anxiety, OCD etc. It

is better than other over the counter herbal remedies like St. 's Wort and

5-HTP as it has no side affects which are caused by the two above when taken in

high dosage which (high dose) is necessary in Major Depressive Disorder and OCD.

These two might suite people with mild anxiety/depression. You may look up

Inositol on wikipedia.

Hope this helps.

Thanks. I am already taking agomelatine which is as far as I understand a

melatoninergic drug.

My concern though is that 5-HTP might reduce my already very low libido. Dr

Shaelian suggests that 5-htp might reduce sex drive

(http://www.raysahelian.com/5-htp.html). Any opinion on this?

I think that I will quit 5-htp for this reason. My libido is already very low.

Can anyone suggest any effective way to regain at least in some extent sex

drive/libido? L-tyrosine doesn't seem to do the trick....

I will try Rhodiola Rosea at some point. I have heard that Maca too might help.

Anything else?

Thanks
