Guest guest
Last week I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, high cholesterol, abnormal liver enzymes and borderline blood pressure. This is all because of my obesity, sedentary lifestyle and bad eating habits. Margaret Sorry to hear this news but glad you have determined to fix it. Guest guest
Hi Ya all, I am new to this group, my name is and I reside in Ohio. I started reading about Steve yesterday, I guess I am or have been hiding under a rock, as this was the first I heard of him or his walk. I too have issues, that need to be addressed in my life, I hope being here, with some encouragement, I can strive to do what I need to do......with the help and support of all of you. I am a mom with 2 kids, and a husband. I don't work, my girls are 12 and 13, and my husband is disabled and in a wheelchair, my lifes focus has been on dealing with them and their needs, and I have not taken care of me. So, now is the time. Thank you for letting me be here. dougpapa@... wrote: Last week I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, high cholesterol, abnormal liver enzymes and borderline blood pressure. Guest guest
Margaret, Welcome. The reason we all admire Steve so much is that he shows us we CAN do it. With just what you said...walking and eating healthy. My mother's entire family is diabetic, has high blood pressure, and various sedentary lifestyle related health issues. I am considered overweight but I have walked my entire life. My health is A1. No diabetes, no cholesterol problems, stable blood pressure on the low side, etc. And that is the only difference between me and them. Walking. Miles of it. I will be leaving on the 22nd to do 83 miles of the PCT. (Pacific Crest Trail). All of us wish you the very best and will give what support we can to your efforts. This is a great group. Guest guest
Welcome ! We are glad to have you and we all will provide what support we can I am sure. This group is one of the most supportive ones out there in my opinion. We occasionally have a negative person but they usually disappear quickly....too much positive energy force! lol Jane
Guest guest
In a way it is good that you now have the diagnosis because you know what you need to do. you will probably find that your blood pressure will normalise and your diabetes could too.... as soon as you make some healthy changes and start walking. I know it's easier said than done, I think most of us here struggle constantly with what is good for us, vs. what our habits and wants are. I don't want to make light of your problems, just to say that you can take control of your health and we will support you along the way kathie
Guest guest
Hi You work. Don't forget that. I hate to see you minimize your contribution in such a way. Your contributions to the world are in your caring for those people in your life who need you. Please don't minimize that. What would you like to do or change? --L n Thu, 11 May 2006 04:34:27 -0700 (PDT) Brown wrote: > Hi Ya all, > I am new to this group, my name is and >I reside in Ohio. This is all because of my obesity, sedentary lifestyle and bad eating habits. Thanks Steve for your inspiration.I will die if I don't get in better condition and lose weight. All this high calorie, high fat, high fructose corn syrup is killing us. I feel sorry when I meet teenagers with these problems. I would like to see all of us use Steve as an inspiration and walk, walk, walk our way to health, along with a healthy diet.Margaret Hello Margaret, I hope I'm not stepping out of line by asking you to email me so that I can send you a link that might help you as its helping millions of people in your same condition including the obesity. If its ok with you Steve she can email me at apachepass@... if not then I'm sorry. I don't want to post links here.
