Guest guest
On the TIPS. I rescheduled it because I wait all year for certain college games I wasn't going to miss this one. The last time I was in the hospital I had a roommate in bed B that was deaf as a post. He would turn his TV up sky high where I couldn't hear mine even if I snatched the curtain around my roost. Don't get me wrong he was a nice gentleman but he had a bad habit of prowling. One night I was given my pain meds and a sleeping pill around 9pm. All my tests were done so I thought I would get a good nights sleep. At around midnight I was awoken by him shaking me and asking me “are you dead?” It took me two hours to fall back asleep. Then, I'll be danged the next morning around 6am my curtain got snatched open and there stands a lady with a Bible in one hand and a bowl of snap beans in the other thinking I was the one she needed to witness to. Wrong bed. I got moved to a private room that day. My girlfriend came by that afternoon for a visit. I told her about my experience and she laughed so hard she spit Pepsi all over the floor and didn't quite make it to the lady's room in time. It's funny now, it wasn't at the time. She even today will wake me up and laugh like crazy. It's all good. Guest guest
Little Eagle, I swear you are such a MAN!!!! Anyway, let us know when the procedure is scheduled! You know, I am a Christian and I hold my faith dear to my heart. I couldn't get by in this world without it. On the other hand, I never want to be offensive with the way I present it. If the Gospel offends, then that is not for me to feel responsible for. That is the business of the God or the Universe. However, if I am offensive, then I am most certainly held responsible for that. So, I pray I never am guilty of being offensive in my faith. Speaking of the hard-of-hearing, I know this is gonna sound absolutely CRAZY, but can liver disease affect your hearing?? Terry's hearing has gotten AWFUL over the last year. I don't know anything else that has changed so I don't know anything else to attribute the hearing loss to. What I do know is that I live with a constant headache now due to the fact that he plays the TV so loud. I went out the other day and when I returned, I could hear the TV clearly from the mailbox. That's about 50 feet from our back door and through the interior and exterior walls!!! Well, so much for that! I gotta run now! Hugs.......... Guest guest
No... Religion doesn't offend me at all. Anything at 6am after a person has been up most of the night can be inconvenient. Liver disease has the opposite on me with regards to hearing. I have been extremly sensitive to noise. I turn the TV down so low that others can't hear it. There is a guy, we have all seen him, a bearded gentleman that advertises crap like OxyClean on TV...everything he says he screams... I have to mute the TV. Almost any noise wakes me up. I have had fits with my eyes. When I feel really bad my vision goes blurry. I have to read the newspaper with a magnifying glass. I had some reading glasses but the first pair I put on the arm of a chair and took a siesta. When I woke up I realized the glassed had slid down in the chair and I squashed them. My second pair I put on the floor while napping on the sofa. I kept hearing...crunch...crunch...munch...munch when I woke up my Beagle had chewed the arms off of that pair. They were just cheap WalMart glasses. CLE Subject: Re: Terry C. from TN To: livercirrhosissupport Date: Wednesday, September 10, 2008, 2:11 PM Little Eagle, as my MIL would say, you're a sight! Guest guest
Hey! Yea, Terry is sort of like that when he's having the really bad days, doesn't want noise at all in the house. But on the other days, OMG it nearly drives me crazy! Yep, we've had that same problem with his glasses! Thankfully they haven't been broken yet, but they've sure missed some excellent opportunities!!!! I'm with you, at 6 a.m. almost anything would be offensive to me! I'm definitely NOT a morning person, even if I did get a good night's sleep! BTW, I think the guy with OxyClean stuff oughta be taught to use his INSIDE voice!!!! Hugs......... Guest guest
Hey MaC, Yea, it is low. I check it every 15 minutes when it's that low. My guideline is anything below 90/50, check every 15 minutes. If ANY drop, call 911 immediately. If stable, continue to monitor until it reaches at least 100/70 and maintains for 1 hour. 87/49 was it's lowest point that day. It happens fairly often so we're pretty used to it by now. The first time around, it scared the holy crap outta me! When he gets really bad, I always start checking his B/P and blood sugar ever 15 minutes, as well as monitoring his heart rate and respirations. I also listen to his lungs to see if he's sounding " wet " . As long as everything is stable, we ride it out at home cause he really hates the trips to the ER and subsequent hospitalization. He has a high toleration for hypotension and hypoglycemia, as well as a high pain threshold. So, when he gets sick, it's sometimes hard to determine just how sick he really is. He has been at death's door before, and we thought he only had a virus. He walked into the ER triage and his B/P was 48/27 or in that very low range. The doctor's couldn't believe he was on his feet with a B/P that low! His B/P is back to the 120/75 range now and has been stable there for over 24 hours. So, once again we've dodged the bullet! Thanks for your concern. Hugs.......... Diane C. from TN RE: Terry C. from TN > To: livercirrhosissuppo rtyahoogroups (DOT) com > Date: Wednesday, September 10, 2008, 9:55 AM > > Good morning gang!
