Guest guest
Thanks !Actually, I am a LLLL too, so i have NTP in Italian (where are some pictures of my sons too J ) in my library JIn my PP I try to offer parents a room where to find that community you tell JAnyway, as would like to promote my led-weaning course toward people not so easy with this kind of approach, or towards pediatricians too :-PP, I’d like to give it a more evidenced basis. For this reason I am looking for evidence, experience, and other suggestions so to reach people who ar not so close to our philosophyHugsa Da: [mailto: ] Per conto di McInviato: giovedì 10 maggio 2012 15.07A: Oggetto: Re: Baby led weaning. It's great that you do these classes, a. I think the biggest thing for parents is to find a community of like-minded parents - for the parents to see what's possible and that it turns out okay and for the kids to see other older nurslings. Helping moms connect in person (the best) or through a facebook connection or a yahoo group like this one. My local LLL group holds a " Nursing Beyond a Year " meeting, we don't call it a toddler meeting because some kids nurse beyond toddler years. We really try to encourage moms to exchange phone numbers and get together outside the meetings. In the places I've lived with kids (San Francisco and Vermont) the folks most likely to nurse full-term also were inclined towards home birthing, cloth diapering, homeschooling, eating organic and so on. So, somehow reaching out to the (perhaps) few who do these things in Italy, even if their kids are now older, perhaps fostering a " natural parenting " sort of group. Are there LLL meetings nearby to refer parents to? Perhaps you or a pal could start an Attachment Parenting group (http://www.attachmentparenting.org/groups/groupstart.php) Mothering Dot Commune has a page for Italy, right now it seems to be mostly used by english speaking folks in Italy but it's a forum that already exists and is available. Genitori di giorno e…di notte (Nighttime Parenting)by Sears is probably a good book to have for parents. " How Weaning Happens " , by Diane Bengson is a good book and discusses the weaning process at various ages. I don't think it's been translated into Italian though.Overall, the more the moms can support each other, the better.
