Guest guest
this administered by resiratory therapist ordered by Pul doc??? RT gives va total of 6 different Methacholine mists each stronger than the last over a 2 hour period to see if I react with wheezing or shortness of breath.....if it is BAD reaction, they give albuterol (used to sell it) via air mask....if my response level falls below 40%, I am " positive " for the test. It is supposed to show whether it is a LUNG condition and to rule out an allergy condition.BUT.....with my BURNING throat and nose, I'm afraid the " irritant " will absorb in THROAT tissue and sensitize me (worse), so I may not have it done....I don't want to go in to a pulmonary/hypertensive crisis!!! They won't be testing the irritant in my nose, which is the FIRST area that bothers me before the throat. Any comments about the above test would surely be appreciated. I KNOW the blood IgE test IS important and a good predictor of something going on in the lung(right Sharon?). Thanks again....Steve
