Guest guest
Samya... I was immediately thinking about the cereal as I was reading your post! I know some people are very opposed to it, but I actually had a pediatrician tell me once to start putting cereal in the milk, so I guess the camp is still out! Play around with the consistencies, sometimes, SOMETIMES, some MDS or DS babies have problems with food textures, but you may learn that that's not the case for Olivia, and she'll eat anything that comes her way!! heehee!! My son had the problem with nursing, but took bottles just fine, and never had a problem eating ANYTHING! I started spiking his bottle with cereal when he was a couple months old, and it seemed to satisfy him so much more! Especially if she's needing to gain more weight... I don't see how it can hurt at all!! Good luck!! Guest guest
Samya, Kaitee was a big baby at birth too ... ten pounds... and she didnt get satisfied with just bottle feedings... and of course the more she ate the more she spit back, and the worse her gas was... Her ped suggested cereal in her bottle to cut back on the formula intake.. but I didnt do it until he suggested too... after we saw she was going to do alright on the cereal in the bottle, he put her on cereal in the morning and am an provided me with a special bottle that you could put food into .... I did all this on the doctors advice, not on my own, and did get a lot of opposition to it from " everyone " who knew she would just never give up a bottle or learn to eat normally.... but Kaitee gave up the bottle early... on her own.. probably becasue she could never get the hang of of holding a bottle herself and tipping it at the angle necessary to get anything out of it ... once she got the straw usuage down... I found bottles that had a straw built into them, and those were her thing...and as for eating... the child learned to do that very well indeed lol.... something else you might like a heads up on... bigger babies are a little slower in rolling over and doing the crawl and things.. compound with the MDS this could seem like significant delays to you and frustrations on her developement... Kaitee never crawled, or sat up by herself... she aquired a roll technique that got her into difficult places quickly and sufficiently... lol.. she has all this under control now..(steps are her biggest challenge) she just chose to get where she is today (actually evaulated farther ahead physically then her peers) in a different manner then most debbi
Guest guest
OUr son Caden was diagnosed with reflux at about 4 mos. old. It is a simple procedure and it is amazing to see how much actually comes back up the throat, but not out the mouth. I am with Kristy to talk to your doctor about it. The prescribed zantac for Caden which neutralizes the acid so it does not cause damage to the esophagus. - mom to Caden-MDS (1) and Ella (3)
