Guest guest
I wonder what kind of bed everybody sleeps on???? I sleep on a waterbed now but when I sleep on any other service that is harder than my back really aches. Of course, my waterbed just sprung a leak and I have to sleep on other beds at the moment which doesn't help my sleep. Koss http://fast.to/angelark Send a free photo postcard today! Guest guest
I have had to resort to a hospital bed with a very thick egg crate mattress. We installed a trapeze typething to help me roll over . Bed is electric for up and down and head up and feet up. Has made big diff for me, but do miss sleeping with hubby. We have adjusted though. Guest guest
Well, now I don't know what gets through from me and what doesn't. I've checked my settings and everything is OK. I just received answers from people I emailed tonight and all is well there. Between them and you guys, I'd prefer you guys so let me know what you get from me or not...Ken, Ray...? Beds..beds..beds. The stuff of dreams. I remember when I could spend the day in bed and enjoy it. Ah well ! My wife and I just got back together, so to speak, after separate beds for the last 3 or 4 years. We got another waterbed which I can't sleep on. But again, I can't sleep on a regular bed either so there's no loss. We purchased it second hand. Went to the lumber store and bought wood which they cut to my specifications. I put a nice knotty pine bookcase/shelf thingy on it complete with 2 built in lamps, etc. We put the bed together, filled it up and then noticed the previous owner had not included the cap for the bed. Turns out he doesn't have it. Nice. I went hunting through the house for a cap and found one that fit...off the last bottle of Malox I used ! It seems to be holding. I have to get the real thing soon so that we can return the scuba tanks we rented just in case ! The idea of a trapeze bar sounds kind of fun though........nah ! I can't even swim let alone do pirouettes in bed ! Mike mailto:byteme@... > Re: Beds > > > I have had to resort to a hospital bed with a very thick egg crate > mattress. Guest guest
I've only slept in a waterbed once or twice. It seems to me that the biggest problem was getting out. It almost undid all the damage of the rest. The other problem is that waterbeds and cats don't mix. ~››~››~››~››~››~››~››~››~› Success is not measured by how well we deal with plan " A " but by how well we deal with plan " B " . ‹‹§‹‹§‹‹§‹‹§‹‹§‹‹§‹‹§‹‹§
Guest guest
, I bet there are some good waterbed stories out there. Quite a few years ago, my ex-wife & I were on a low budget vacation where we got a free motel stay at a recreation land developer's expense, in exchange for a sales pitch. It was a long drive into picturesque country, and both of us were pretty tired. When we checked in, the desk person offered a room with a waterbed. Neither of us had ever been on one. Sounded interesting, so we took it, hauled our stuff to the room & plunked down on the bed. Seemed very comfortable. After about a half-hour, I got up, and almost instantly heard a scream from my wife, who was now lying on the floor, stunned, angry & accusing me of punching her. I was just about twice her weight, so when I got up, it created a shock wave that knocked her off the bed! She never would believe I didn't push her. Guest guest
Hi , I have thought about a water bed, but I have a difficult time getting out of my regular bed, and I wonder if it would be more difficult with a water bed. Some mornings (most of the time, actually) I am in so much pain in the morning that it takes me quite a while to move at all. That's why I have wondered about a water bed. With your back problems, is it hard to get in and out of bed? Kathleen

Guest guest
I don't know about that. I think a lot of cat owners might disagree....like us. We've had 4 waterbeds through the years, there are now 2 set up in the house, ours and our daughter's, we've had a cat or cats all along, and have never had a problem. Even when they've done their little " Dance of the Claws " thing that cats do. Unless you want to include when the cat won't move over when I want to go to bed ! Guest guest
I had to get rid of my waterbed for that reason. I couldn't get out of it in the morning. Between the RA and my back problems, I would have had to call the rescue squad to get me out!!!! Rolling over wasn't the easiest either! Guest guest
, I am sleeping on a foam mattress that was put on my son's bed when he was a patient at University Hospital in Columbus, Oh. It is not like the thin, blue cheezy " egg crates " they use in most hospitals, but thick and seperated at intervals. I have no idea what it is called, but do know that it is very comfortable. Any medical person might be able to tell you what kind it is and who manufactures it. Good Luck! Good sleep! Hugs, Diane a koss wrote: > > > I wonder what kind of bed everybody sleeps on???? Guest guest
Mike, I have the same problem with any bed. I just can't find a comfortable position that doesn't put pressure on some already inflamed joint, tendon, or muscle. The pain on rising and trying to move is almost off the scale. Luckily Wygesic, i.e., Darvon with Tylenol, takes enough of the edge off the pain that I can get to sleep. Sitting up in a recliner puts too much pressure on my right hip. Lying on my side puts too much pressure on shoulders. Lying on my stomach ends up hurting my shoulders. About the only way I can sleep anymore is on my back twisting so that weight rests on my left hip instead of the right one, propped up on several pillows with more pillows under the arms in just the right position to take pressure off of the shoulders. Luckily my lower back is somewhat better or this position wouldn't work either. My wife and I still sleep in the same bed, but very little happens. She is quickly turned off by my screams of pain every time we move. Ray in Virginia ---------------------------------------------------- Reach me by ICQ. Best bed I've had yet is one we got a year and a half ago.. king size Beauty Rest...the softest I could find...massive pillow top. I love it but it's VERY difficult for to turn it by himself. If we had it to do over again we may have gotten a king with the split top mattresses...easier to turn. Guest guest
Kathleen, Water beds come in all shapes, sizes, and formats. My parents us one that is made up of individual baffles filled with water and acts mostly like a regular mattress but works on physical problems like a water bed is suppose to work. They used to have the high surf kind and complained then of getting out of bed. They no longer seem to have that complaint. I love naps on their bed when I'm visiting them. Guest guest
Ya, thats what is on my bed. Very thick, egg crate. It is wonderful to sleep on. A home medical store is where I got it, cost inthe area of $50. Worth every penny. Lyn " We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking up at the stars. I don't know if this will help you or not but it's something that SOMETIMES helps me. I can't lay on my left side because that is the side that hurts the most in the hip due to the L4-L5 disc. I can't lay on my right side usually because that is the shoulder that has tendonitis and the arm has nerve pain due to the FMS and a cervical disc problem. Here's what I do, at the recommendation of a PT I know; I lay on my right side, put a very thin pillow underneath my upper body, up to the under my arm area. Then I leave a space and put two more pillows for my head...one is a cervical pillow...shaped like a butterfly and then the next one...which the butterfly rests partially on...at the top....goes under it and reaches to touch the headboard. My shoulder and arm go in the space between the flat pillow my upper body rests on and my butterfly pillow. Takes a bit of getting used to...and fussing about until you find the best way (sometimes I put the butterfly under my upper body...but then I miss it cradling my neck..I should get another butterfly). Hope this makes sense! CUlater, Ruthie =========================== Ruthie Cunliffe K2ZQ ruthie@... http://www.cunliffegroup.com/ruthie/ Oh, no! Not ANOTHER learning experience! Guest guest
Ruthie, I sort of do the same thing, but with a twist, so to speak. Discovered it when I was in hospital two years ago with anti-biotic induced colitis. Where to put the shoulder and arm are great problems. Thanks. Guest guest
I've got so many pillows on my bed it's amazing there is room for me. Those full length body pillows work great. BTW, discovered this one year when I had no place to store my down comforter, I put in under my sheets and slept on it. ~››~››~››~››~››~››~››~››~› Success is not measured by how well we deal with plan " A " but by how well we deal with plan " B " . ‹‹§‹‹§‹‹§‹‹§‹‹§‹‹§‹‹§‹‹§
