Guest guest
Dear all, I really need some help with this one; new patient, woman in her 50s, came with arthritis (widespread; hands, feet, knees, hips, neck) and psoriasis; lots of pain and stiffness. Also h/o coeliac disease, sensitive to all sorts of things with gluten at the top of the list. Also severe and painful varicose veins. pmh includes Tb in teens, had lump on neck, treated with lots of antibiotics, and a severe allergic type reaction to Hep B injection 10 years ago. I felt the gut to be the important thing and started with chamomile, calendula, filipendula, liquorice, fennel, however after two days of taking mix patient had allergic reaction; everything swelled, abdominal bloating, all symptoms got much worse, lots of pain in joints etc. I suspect reaction to compositae family but am now very wary about what I give her. Does anyone have experience/success in treating this sort of thing; if so please help. Lots riding on this; patient is a lady with lots of stress, cares for disabled husband and has got grant to pay for herbal treatment, also has a lot of friends/acquaintances awaiting results, so potential new patients if I get it right. NB, Non, whereabouts in N Wales are you coming to? We are becoming more numerous here, and I've been considering trying to set up a N Wales supervision group. I'm over on the Llyn penisula, Pip is in Corwen, with Daley, two current students (one near me, going into joint practice hopefully) and one in Bala. Cliff in Aberystwyth and somewhere else, I think. Give us a ring; we're quite friendly! Alison.
