Guest guest
Syndrome is one of the most common genetic disorders in girls. It occurs because the girl has only one copy of the X chromosome instead of 2. I have a new client who's newborn has s. There isn't a lot about breastfeeding and s so I thought I might share what I've learned so far. 1. High arch palate with no posterior tongue tie is normal 2. Low muscle tone is also common 3. Cardiac deformities are also normal The biggest thing to work on is positioning and managing the pain associated with breastfeeding a child with a high arch palate. Alternate feeding methods, taking a break to pump if necessary. I also found that with this baby her jaw and neck are very tight, which I suspect are related to physical symptoms of s, which in turn makes wide gaping difficult so some massage or CST may be helpful. Hope this helps someone in the future. Lea Todaro
