Debbie:

> Inger feel free to use the boxers thing, people here usually tell females

not to get their knickers in a twist,

I know, that's why I found your expression so hilarious!

> ...but I don't think Simon B-C is the knickers type somehow!

:-D :-D (You never know, though.) ;-)

> I'm really pleased to feel welcomed here, I am the sort of Aspie who if I

have anything interesting to share likes to do that. Unfrotunately over the

past week it has casued some viscious attacks on me in the 'other' place and

please don't ask me where because I don't feel happy talking about the

place.

Neither do some of us... :-(

> Suffice to say that families here in the UK are being accused of

Munchausen Syndrome by Proxy through the Education Departments failure to

provide for AS children. Rather than admit responsibility families like mine

are being dragged through the courts and children taken away from them.

This is just stunning!

> The BBC were given my name as a parent with AS who would be able as long

as they respected how I need certain things to be done, to talk to them

about the situation in the UK. I thought it was something of interest and

so posted about the date and time, the reporter also felt it was a story

that needed to be shared with the public so

wrote it up for a national newspaper to go out the same day as the

broadcast.

Any chance of getting to read a transscript of the broadcast and copy of the

article? I'd be very interested.

> What I felt was working hard for AS families has been taken as me seeking

status and image and out for personal glory.

In this case I can say with 100 % certainty that it was a projection (again)

because I have info from that person to prove it.

> If protecting our children from ignorant Social Services and LEA's was

easy then I could understand the attacks, but the night before each

interview I get very agitated and have bouts of vomiting - the only thing

that keeps me going is that I nearly had my children taken and other

families are being threatened or have already lost their children.

I totally understand! I think it was amazingly brave of you to disregard

your personal apprehension for a higher good. Anyone who doesn't see that is

simply a small-minded person.

> The point of telling you this is that Sparrow asked if I have information,

I already have information and also am very fortunate to be in contact with

some of the UK's respected and knowledgeable professionals who are always

willing to provide information when I ask them. The idea of supporting each

other and having a productive

and relaxed AS community to me means sharing experiences and information, I

would willingly share but have been put off by recent events, the other

thing I learned was that even if my information came from UK experts it was

still dismissed as nonsense.

You are here breaching a topic that I've been wanting to address for a

rather long time. And that is the necessity for us Aspies to support and

cooperate with those professionals who actually ARE very openminded to

seeing us as we really are. The way I see it, they are our ticket to getting

better understood by other professionals, and in the end, by a wider public.

Because without psyciatric education, it doesn't matter how many insights

about AS we may have; we're still not going to be taken seriously enough to

have much of an impact on the way we are described in DSM etc. The other way

is by contact with media directly. You have done both. For that you have my

undying admiration. Instead of just talking and talking as most of the rest

of us do, you have actually gone and DONE something for our 'cause' and that

is something I really appreciate.

> You can probably appreciate that right now I feel very wounded and very

wary, and need some time to heal.

That's very understandable. You must feel very disillusioned and

disappointed in what you though were your fellow Aspies. Hope you'll be able

to heal here with us then.

> When ~ I'm feeling a bit more settled Sparrow, watch this space and I will

certainly share with you the known medical co-morbids of AS, actually Jo's

spinal problems are typical. Hope this is ok with everyone.

Absolutely. We are looking forward to anything you might want to share. But

no rush. Just take care of yourself and feel free to vent your feelings at

anytime. We are here to listen and support.

Big e-hug from Inger

I completely understand the need to pull back and collect one's self

after being bombarded and bullied by people! No explanations or

apologies are necessary! Whenever, if-ever you feel ready, I'm all

ears. But definitely no pressure from me!

*sends gentle, non-intrusive hug-like thoughts your way*

I'd like to second that appreciation! I've dealt a little bit with

the media and it's made me very, very shy of dealing with them again.

My experiences have been that they twist everything one says and then

write an article with a slant that's just embarassing to be

associated with.

So I strongly admire and respect anyone else who has the courage to

get back up and go " back into the fray " ! It's something I haven't

been strong enough to do (though I still have hopes for the future)

so I have a great deal of admiration for anyone else who is strong

enough to handle it and a great deal of gratitude that you, Debbie,

would be willing to take on the extreme stress that it causes in

order to try to make the world a better place for all of us.

Debbie,

Tom/Zoologist here.

When I welcomed you to the group, I was of course sincere, but I

want you to know something: Many of us here have experienced what

you have and so we can relate to what you are saying. This forum

will not and has not tolerated people who behave in that fasion.

Most importantly, know this and keep it with you always:

I believe that when we get to truly know people, we then respect

them, support them, value them and befriend them. This is true

friendship, and this is the type of forum I am trying to cultivate

here.

Just for us.

Debbie, you are always welcome here in whatever way you wish to

particpate, and that holds true for all of you who are posting now.
