Guest guest
Kam, Because of finances I couldn't get to a doc or get a prescription.. I found Nutri-Meds in July of last year... They offer both the Porcine and the Bovine and after reading how well everyone is doing on Armour I decided to go with the Porcine. I'm not all that nervous about Mad Cow.. if that is what you are wondering.. but given a choice I'd stay away from Bovine.. "an ounce of prevention" and 's Law.. take your pick.... My own thought, other than Armour being porcine, is that pig organs can be used for human transplants... makes me think porcine would be better for us.... Pigs are really smart.. omnivorous... social, protective.. Cows are stupid.. vegetarian... stupid..... I guess I don't want to risk sharing too many traits with cows? hehehehe I'll be curious to hear how your multi-dosing works out.. Mind you, I have no thyroid and have always been very sensitive to meds.. so it might be that my body, as run down as it still is from being without meds for so many years, is just really in need of low frequent dosing to not stress it as it tries to heal.... Did I mention one day last week I forgot to take the pills into the bedroom? I was too lazy to get dressed and come back in here to get them.. figured I'd just make sure to take one just as soon as I finished my morning bathroom run.... ....I ain't never doing that again..didn't sleep well.. woke up a bit sore... reached for my pill out of habit, realized it wasn't there... cussed myself for being forgetful and lazy... swung my feet out of bed... and the truck hit me... just like that....hurting... There is something going on with my bod that wants that dosing.... I have a possible source for Armour some time this summer.. I want to do a comparison.. since my body seems to pick up on changes rather quickly I'd like to compare the two, Armour and Nutri-Med, for strength... I'm looking forward to that test.... I think I wrote you but can't remember if I did, but I was wondering--how did you decide to use the porcine (as opposed to bovine) thyroid from Nutri-med? And why haven't you tried Armour? I'm going to try splitting my Armour into about 4 doses a day instead of 2--I'm impressed by the pain-free results you get from taking part of your thyroid just before sleep and part immediately on awakening. Guest guest
Hi y'all, I belonged to the Living Well web site which was owned by the new owner of Nutri-Meds. She had to take down all the information about thyroid and adrenals because of a conflict of interest now that she's selling those items. However, before she bought Nutri-Meds she indicated in information on her web site that the Nutri-Meds porcine thyroid, 130 mg., is roughly equivalent to the 60 mg. of Armour. However, she also recommended starting out at 1/4 a tablet, and increasing it very slowly, like every 4 weeks in the beginning. The same for the adrenals, except that you can start out with 1 adrenal as it's a low dose to begin with. I take the adrenal, and it's made such a difference. I'm probably still not taking enough, but am a little scared that I'll get too much - probably should be scared that I'll get too little :-) I have run out of it before, and notice a huge difference in the way I feel. I usually take one in the morning with my Armour and one about 3:00 in the afternoon. Of course, we're all so different - just listen to your body. I know I'm not quite where I need to be yet - it's all a matter of trial and error, and truthfully I don't think I've ever been "normal" in my entire life - LOL - even as a child I was slower and more tired than all my friends. Wish they had discovered this problem WAY back then!!!! Want to make sure I get this right, because it's sort of scary, but I've got to get to feeling better. Re: Nutri-med A one grain (60-65mg) tablet of Nutrimeds porcine should be approximately equivalent to a one grain (60 mg) of Armour. Reduce your T4 med by .075 mg for each grain of porcine thyroid. I don't have a clue on the bovine, except that it contains more T3. wrote: I'm planning on trying this, but I know that I've got to know how to convert that to fit my body needs. That, I don't know how to do. Any advice here before I order? Anything would be appreciated.
Guest guest
Sally, Interesting.. thanks for passing on the info.. it's really frustrating trying to guess the potency equivalencies.... but I also understand why Nutri-Meds has to be careful, so that they don't fall under FDA regulatory dictates. Once that happens we lose our only source that is available within the US borders without prescription.
