Guest guest
I am a qualified beauty therapist but I am not working as one. It was a confidence thing initially, plus it is too hard working for younger people when I am over 30 and worldly. I have had several experiences with going into salons and being told by a two year old that I didn't do something petty the way she does it. My initial reaction is to shove it where the sun doesn't shine and I am outta there like a shot. I am an Ella Bache freak, they make the best commercially available products that I have seen work on skin. They are just way too expensive but I love their intex, sun block and scrub. Good to hear that hubby is going to come round. Sometimes they have an initial reaction, but once they think things thru it all falls into place for them. Guest guest
That is exactly my problem with 50% of therapists; you think they are sniggering behind your back. To be honest they probably are - and are sniggering at everyone that comes in for something. Too skinny, too fat, too hairy, too pimply etc. I went thru college with a few of them, so I kind of know how their brains work. They have an inferiority complex, I know that I am better than them, but its not easy being 120kg and wanting a bikini wax - you just feel embarrassed. I would start my own business, might have to join the queue at 's place for when he wins lotto Nx

Guest guest
Nic, You know when I said earlier I broke my knee cap, well there was this great young girl who worked for the dud physio and he treated her like a pig. Anyway, we got chatting and she used to do massages so she started coming to my place with her portable bed and I got groups of friends around and we would have a wine and bikkies and cheese and she would make some good money, and us older, fatter, insecure girls got a body massage. The first ever for me and a few of the others too. Have you ever considered that type of a money spinner for yourself? If you have the expertise there is a whole untapped market out there, as we fatties know. People who are too old, too fat, too whatever to feel confident to go into one of those trendy salons with 'celery sticks' touching their blubber. Think about it, we could kick you off, right here, I bet a lot of the girls would have a facial etc. I definitely would, and so would Libby. There you are, two already. Guest guest
Gosh, I guess I have all of that to look forward to in about 8 years! It is lovely when you are still superheroes to your children isn't it. Sophie has taken to rolling her eyes when I ask her to do something that she doesn't want to do! God help me when she turns 13! Guest guest
Hi Mel, I am the opposite to you - I dont think that i am " worthy " of pampering and therefore never bother!!!! >-- Original Message -- >To: SydBand > >Date: Tue, 16 May 2006 05:16:41 -0000 >Subject: Re: O/T/ To Libby >Reply-To: SydBand > > > > > >Libby, you are going to the wrong salons. > I am sure that because I cannot buy " normal " >clothes, I have a problem with pampering myself. Guest guest
Oh yes you are. Last year first time ever I had regular facials and had my nails done fortnightly. It was all new to me and it was my celebration for having my surgery. I can no longer afford all this and I am over it now, but if I ever have the money spare I would do it again because I just felt it completed the new picture. Go ahead, shout yourself and see how amazing you feel, just once. Maree
