Hi Barbara,

Thanks for the kind words. I have a 2 page flyer from the Amer. Chron. Pain

Assoc. about selecting a pain treatment center that I'll mail to you if you giv

a snail address. (don't know if you sent it for the tape, my records are in an

uproar this week due to computer pain)

I'm sure that you must be in reasonable distance of some worthwhile

programs, but just don't know the territory myself. You might call the

Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation facilities at 1

(most recent # I have). They accredit some (not all) programs. AlsoAmerican

Pain Society (a group of providers) may be helpful at 1 . They

most likely have information on pain units in your ares. The bulletin I can

send you (or fax) has a lot of good simple advice about sizing up a program.

Also the ACPA may be able to give you some helpful info at 1

Re; your stomach hurts-- You definitely must take this seriously & ideally

stop taking what is causing it. It is no fun to have perforated ulcers &

perforated peritoneum, which I had. Thet's sort of mother nature's ultimate

warning. Get serious with your doctor about it, and don't let it get

sidestepped.

Re: The patch (Duragesic, I assume). I Have seen excellent results with it

in a pain center where I was treated. It can be truly liberating, and there is

some flexibility about its use. Go for it!

I think you are probably in an excellent are for finding good care, and I'm

sure you will. Just don't know the places myself. You might also check out the

Chronic Pain Outreach Assoc, which D. just posted at or

. Its in town, so might have better info on your location
