Guest guest Posted July 3, 2004 Report Share Posted July 3, 2004 Dear all, Have just been listening to radio 4 ( about 7.20 am Sat) when I heard the presenter mention herbal medicine. I couldn't believe the outrageous statement he was making. In a nutshell he stated that a 'significant' proportion of the adverse reactions to conventional medicines reported in this weeks press were 'likely' to be caused by people simultaneously using HERBAL MEDICINE without telling their doctor and therefore having a problem with interactions. While we all know that there are potential problems with interactions and always recommend to our patients that they inform their doctor that they are taking herbal medicines it is completely outrageous that they are trying to blame herbs for the thousands of deaths and hospitalisations that occur every year as a direct result of taking conventional medication. I'm so mad - can't write anything else printable.
