Guest guest
My husband was diagnosed with non-alcoholic liver cirrhosis in December of 2006. At that time, he was already experiencing ascites, edema, a little encephalopathy, and the itching issue. We have been able to keep those conditions under control, until lately. He seems to be more and more lethargic and sleeps most of the day while I am at work. He is more easily confused as well. His MELD is stable at 13-15, so we are not that high up on the transplant list. I just don't know what to expect with this disease. You can read all sorts of things on the internet that would indicate that after having cirrhosis for two years with the ascites, etc. that his survival rate is less than 50%...each day can be so different....what can I do to help him more? My husband is 65 years old and I am afraid that before long they may not consider him for a transplant due to his age.
