If a child's skull bones are fused any earlier than around 2, that would be craniosynostosis. Once the bones fuse together, bands and helmets will not provide any correction. Surgery is the only option post fusion for correction. It does sound like a local helmet that your son will receive. It might also be a STARband. Let us know when the helmet is in.
