Guest guest
Hi everybody, My best friend since the age of 3, Stacey, her mother-n-law passed away Thursday morning. She was at a birthday party last Saturday when she collapsed. She had a brain aneurism, and never came out of it. Stacey's husband, his brothers and sisters decided to find out if their mother could be an organ donor because when I was in the hospital being so sick before my transplant, their mother wished there was something she could have done for me. She wanted to donate part of her liver to me. Stacey and her husband told the doctors how a liver transplant saved my life, and wondered if their mother could be a donor. They called the transplant team over and they said it would be doable. I'm not sure how old she was, but she had to at least be in her 60's. I don't know what the cut off age is for donations. They said she could donate her heart, liver, lungs, and kidneys. Well, her heart stopped beating before the transplant team was ready for her, and she had a no resucitation order, so they were unable to use her organs, but they will be able to use her skin tissue for skin grafts. When Stacey told me about this, I just cried because she passed away so suddenly, and also because I was touched that they wanted to donate her organs and told the doctors my story, and I remember when I was in the hospital how she wanted to help me. I just wanted to share that with all of you. Take care. Penny
