Howdy,

I asked the woman I take Chinese lessons from if she knew where to get

brown rice, and she was completely perplexed. Brown? Rice?

"Is it chocolate?" she asked. She'd never heard of such a thing.

I can easily get white rice, of course, and corn. I haven't tried

anything like millet, but I can probably get that, too. I still

haven't gone into the big city to go shopping. I'm going to ask some

of my students, too. In the meantime, I guess I'll stock up on what I

know I can get, like ginger, garlic, leafy greens, squash,

cauliflower, bai cai (bok choy), carrots.

I teach at a university, by the way. I love it. I just plain like to

teach, but I love teaching university students.

Thanks,

Amber
