Guest guest
Here's my opinion, from someone who has been there. I'm a LLLeader, too and it took me 6 years to acquire the hours necessary to sit the boards. Until I got noticed that I passed, I was not a LC. You can certainly say in your bio that you are working toward your IBCLC credential. But if you're not IBCLC, you're not. Just as being a LLLeader applicant, you did not attempt to lead meetings or tell the mothers that you were "almost" a Leader. I'm glad you're asking. It shows that you are concerned about ethics. Title when awaiting boards Hello all - I am a La Leche League Leader in Illinois and am in the process of finishing up my prerequisites to sit IBLCE boards. I am approximately 99% finished with all coursework, but am unable to sit boards this year due to missing a deadline by 2 weeks. Sigh. I have recently begun working under the umbrella of a group of Doulas in my area, as a volunteer LLL Leader now, then as a PP IBCLC after boards. I am being added to their website this week and am having trouble figuring out what to "call myself". I will certainly say "LLL Leader", but I'd also like to let clients know that I have nearly completed my prerequisites and will be sitting boards to be an IBCLC. I think it is important for clients to know, as I think it shows I'm furthering my education. At the same time, I don't want to misrepresent myself, call myself something that I'm not, or offend anyone who has worked hard to get licensed. Wondering if any of you would have suggestions on how to refer to myself? I've thought of maybe board eligible? IBCLC in training? I emailed IBLCE for suggestions, but did not get a response. Thanks in advance! Jodi Fan LLL Leader Champaign-Urbana, IL
