Thanks, , again,

We have been trying to live a more frugal life within our house in a

country club community. Only one big enough and cheap enough when we

moved here 5+ years ago...and only one that had the style we like:

Colonial Farmhouse with lots of wrap around porches. I grow most of my

garden plants. I mow my own yard and save $50.00 a month. I do all of

the housekeeping and save at least $200-$250.00 a month from the time my

wife had a housekeeper coming in once a month, i.e., before I finally

retired. I buy coupons for car repairs ($39.50 for 5 oil & filter

changes that usually run about $100+ otherwise and add extra coupons for

other repairs below cost of advertised rates). Bought a freezer and buy

some foods in bulk when on sale.

We eat far less meat than ever before in our lives. Fresh fruits and

Veggies instead. Use simple cleaning fluids, i.e., vinegar is cheap and

a great cleaner for our wood floors. Mostly just use water, the

universal solvent cleaner. Works best when its hot and you have an

extractor (Steam Vac/Rug Cleaner). They even make steam cleaners you

can use on almost any surface. Save everything, a habit left over from

teaching elementary school: paper bags for packing and carrying small

items, plastic grocery bags used as waste basket inserts, bread bags to

store food in when empty (saves on the baggies), etc. I'll be

interested in checking the books and tip sites you listed for more money

savers. Anybody else got some money and time saving tips? My biggest

need is to have three grown kids paying their own way. (LOL).
