Guest guest
Hi Ken!! > At any rate, nice to know that you are still alive!. Glad > you can still > drag yourself out for music. The music is great. Mostly therapy for me ( but not much fun when I get a coughing fit during rehearsal... at least I only get to perform one song , NEW YORK GROOVE). So anyway, I get another horror week at work ( travel time alone is over 3 hours a day on public transport ); but then I get next Saturday with the accountant to sort out financial messes since a breakdown in late 1993 ... the tax office finally caught me right at the wrong time, and then next Saturday nite I get to go to a Mauritian Cultural Evening. Now all I need is a job that did not involve me hearing Telecommunications problems 8 hours a day. Regards . ****************************************** Milton |santeri@... | ----------------------------------------------------------- http://www.eisa.net.au/~santeri =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
Guest guest
, If ( & when) you're up to it, maybe you might want to volunteer in a social program like a hot line of some sort. There also must be social agencies who could use volunteers live. With your law background, a drug treatment program might be an idea. The private agencies never have enough funds to meet their needs, and may run whole programs (like information & referral, a sort of clearinghouse to point people in need toward the right place). They have the information, and often some training or preparation. I don't know what the practices are where you are, but here the agencies usually have the facility to send employees for social work training- MSW. They don't have actual money to do this, but they get " credit " for supervising interns from the various schools, and this allows their staffs to get free training & degrees. Also, here there are a number of entry level human services positions in government, often with paid schooling (and time for it) for people who stay 2 years. This is true of the public welfare agencies & courts. Who knows, a night a week when you're feeling better might turn into something. At any rate, it could offset some of the frustration you are banging your head against. Also, might you be qualified to work as a paralegal? Here it is a professional position.
