Blessed Herbs in the US sells the leaf very much cheaper than the root, and the

leaf works very nicely. They sell the root, too, of course, but they try for

sustainable wildcrafting, and for cultivated.

The relevant part from their website (http://www.blessedherbs.com/frame2.html):

w = wildcrafted org = certified organically grown herbs

* = indicates herbs that are of good quality, but growing conditions cannot be

verified

Common Name Source from 1-4 lbs. per lb.

Ginseng Leaf w 25.00

Ginseng Root Whole

American Wild Premium w 750.00

American Wild Average w 700.00

American Wild Woodsgrown * 135.00

Korean Ginseng Root Pdr * 80.00

Prices in USD, and those are USD lbs.

That ginseng leaf was American ginseng, P. quinquefolius, back in 1998, but you

can always ask them for details. They're still small enough to know where each

lot is from. Excellent quality. (No commercial interest on my part). If you do

decide to order from them take powdered garlic and powdered cayenne as well,

wheee! Their powdered garlic is -stunning-; it's dried without heat.

Cheers

Henriette
