Is there still a risk of yeast with the transdermal and/or IV NAC?

Thanks,

No, it has to be in the gut to cause the pathogen stimulation. Dr. JM

Leah,

I am very eager to try to pin down what is different about the children who

have the adverse response to NAC versus those who don't. Please consider

coming over to sulfurstories to talk about what things you've learned about

your child's chemistry in other areas. The more details the better the

chance of finding the common thread.

Sulfurstories was set up as a place to discover the common turf in people

with adverse responses to specific sulfur supplements. Encourage others

who have had this response to NAC to come talk about it, too! I know we

will learn if we can just compare notes well enough. Since I've studied a

lot about NAC's role in the body and its trafficking, there is a lot of

context (besides gut bugs) that might be relevant.

NAC is most helpful to those who have problems with breaking down

glutathione at the cell surface. For them, NAC provides a way to get

cysteine in the cell by a different route.

Sharon, if you are smelling ammonia, then you are probably seeing a stepped

up glutaminase chemistry, but why? Is there a reason he might be

experiencing acidosis? Have you tried alka seltzer gold?

You might see if some people where you live could go in with you to buy a

bottle of Bayer's Multistix 10, which measures ten important things in

urine which might point to a temporary metabolic dysregulation.

MULTISTIX® 10SG Reagent Strips Urine testing strips for glucose,

bilirubin, ketones, specific gravity, blood, pH, protein, urobilinogen,

nitrate and leukocytes. : 100 strips/box

This might allow you to spot something that is changing in good days vs.

bad days,. It yields a lot of information for about the cost of a coke for

each testing strip.

Do you suppose he might be having trouble with acetylated compounds in

general since both the NAC and carnitine were acetylated?
