Guest guest
Yes it is possible. One- Is it a habit? Two- I would think about diabetes. Three- There is a disease from drinking too much water and I can't think of what it is called. I know when I did the yeast elimination diet I had to be careful not to keep drinking after the three day water only part (which was the easiest part I think) when I needed eating again. If I think of it I will post it. Sorry! Water is the best thing so that's great, have you asked the child`s Ped. what is right for that age? Marla > > Is it possible to get too much water? Guest guest
Just a suggestion about trying to get them to drink more water. My kids liked to drink from the bottled water bottle, it was something different and Mom and Dad did it. We also would only drink water at the dinner table and would have a big pitcher of ice water on the table. They liked watching it pour into the cup and getting ice cubs in their glass to fish out and chew. Hope this helps, Marla > Wow - I wish I could help. Our daughter HATES water! Guest guest
I don't know how much is too much but there is such as a thing as " water intoxication " where certain electrolytes can become too dilute because of too much water - like sodium (hyponatremia)- this can be a serious problem. I just did a quick search and apparently this is most often a problem of athletes like marathon runners who don't replace electrolytes with foods thinking that water is mostly what they need while running. If your child is acting totally normally, but you are still concerned about this - by all means, check with the pediatrician. FWIW, my son used to be a much better " drinker " than he is now. We started GFCF and Prozac around the same time, but since then he drinks much less than he used to (as in doesn't drink even an ounce of juice with breakfast - the rest of the time, he gets only water - thank goodness he likes water). His urine doesn't look too concentrated, so I guess he's okay - but it was obvious to us when he became less interested in fluids. > Wow - I wish I could help. Guest guest
, My son also stopped drinking water when we started the GFCF diet. I never understood why since he liked it before. I personally feel that water is a great detoxifier. Whenever I get hayfever it goes away in a day if I drink HUGE amounts of water. Hope > > Wow - I wish I could help. Guest guest
Hope, My son gets pretty much only water now - a little bit of juice with breakfast, which he asks for but never finishes. I put an insulated sippy cup with (filtered) ice water in his lunch box - he might finish it at the end of the day in the car when I pick him up. He goes to bed at night with ice water, but rarely drinks much of it. He does still like water, and likes to drink from my big insulated cup that I usually carry around with me. But, as I said - his urine always looks normal, not concentrated. Do you have any ideas why this change in fluid intake would occur?? If offered, he would drink juice boxes, I know - because that's what I used to put in his lunch box til we started cutting way back on sugar. > > > Wow - I wish I could help. Guest guest
, My son will drink watered down juice when we give it to him but we limit it because of yeast. When we started GFCF we also switched him from tap water to spring water. Maybe he didn't like it? Then a few months later we found a place near us that sells distilled water and started using it for cooking and he drank it a bit more. What type of water are you using? We have gone through times that my son has drank lots of water of his own accord but often I have to force him which I don't like. I would like him to drink more because it would probably help to flush out toxins. Hope > > > > Wow - I wish I could help. Guest guest
Thanks , I will try the ice and the ice water. We tried the lemon thing. It worked for a while and then he didn't go for it anymore. I have been making a lot of soups lately and this gets more liquid into him.
