Guest guest
, I get the impression that the author is just trying to make as much money as possible. Not that this is bad but I think he has another agenda with his endorsement of his material. Does he give you the INCI name for his wonderful material? If not then be very careful. I sell a great phospholipid emulsifier called Amphisol. The INCI name for this material is DEA-Cetyl Phosphate made by Roche Chemical. What does he tell you about his material? Young KY Labs Innovators of Fine Personal Care Products www.kylabs.com Phosphoderm Chemists, While your answering Dolores's questions I would like to throw a question out there. What do you know about phosphoderm? It's manufactured by I.R.D. Corporation and is refined phospholipids engineered to form instant liposomes and to emulsify products at the same time. The author of the book I'm reading uses it in many of his recipes and sells it on his website. I get the impression the author really likes it. What do you think? Guest guest
, He says Phosphoderm is a trademark. Just about every time he refers to the manufacturer he encloses his website address in parentheses. Sounds like some kind of connection to me. The author is Nikolaus J. Smeh, M.S. His website is: http://www.skincare-institute.com/index.html . I haven't read the book from cover to cover yet since I just got it today. He does a whole write up on the principles of phospholipids, but only mentions Phosphoderm outsite of his recipes a few times from what I can tell. He is also pushing Dermalight, a trademark name made by the same company and Germall Plus. All other ingredients seem to be generic names. So far I haven't found anything in his book using the INCI names. I can't say if the information he provides is valid since I don't know anything about cosmetic chemistry, but I can say that his book is a well-structured document. He discusses the function of skin, breaks ingredients down by their function, and presents both natural and synthetic ingredients even though he's pro-natural. He's quite detailed. But apparently not detailed enough if he doesn't include INCI names. The best description I have found so far in the book for Phosphoderm is " PHOSPHODERM: Refined phospholipids engineered to form instant liposomes and to emulsify the products at the same time. Manufatured by I.R.D. Corporation " . In another place he mentions that I.R.D as International Research and Development, Inc. That's all I can tell you at this point.
