Enlarged Spleen?

Our son's recent ultrasound revealed a mildly enlarged spleen. His

gastroenterologist is checking more deeply into exactly what is meant by the

numbers, and then we'll try to figure out if anything needs to be done. When I

asked what could cause it, the doctor said, any number of things - infection,

liver problems...of course possible infection sounds right to me, given our

son's frequent bouts with shingles, herpes, mono, elevated measles titers, etc.

I also saw on one website that parasites could cause it.

We started the quintet (with transdermal ttfd & gsh) August 25th (his ultrasound

was done prior to starting). Earlier in August he had a normal liver function

test prior to a minor surgery (PE tube removal).

Do ASD kids typically have spleen issues? I hope we don't have to stop the

quintet - thoughts?

Thanks in advance,

Ann
