Hi, . I am delighted to hear that this was a positive step in the right

direction. I'm excited for you. Every day is truly a gift. I think I would

rather know that this is not just a saying, but a reality. On my blog is a

painting of the angel of death, and he is not an enemy, or a scary thing, but

rather a friend that I hope to be able to welcome in when the time is right, and

I am tired and ready for the end.

But I am not ready this night, nor tomorrow. I want to wake up,and enjoy my 45th

birthday. I know that your husband has had a lot of other health problems that

made you skeptical about his attitude toward going in to the hospital, but I

have this hunch that some of it comes from toxins, and I am glad to hear about

the lactulose. This medication is a life saver to me. I feel very bad when I

miss a dose. That is not often, but I can tell. It is an ongoing process to keep

my blood fairly tidy and it does not take much in the way of nasty poison for a

whole lot of horrible hallucinations and memory loss to reek havok. Almost every

day there is some kind of crisis as a result of losing something. Or a

miscommunication. If you put the dose of lactulose in 4 oz of orange juice, it

tastes quite good. a person will get used to it to some degree, and you can

learn to tell how fast it will work it's magic. I am so used to it now, that I

have to eat a lot

of fiber and take 200 mg of colace 3 times a day to keep things the way they

are supposed to be. The narcotics would very quickly cause constipation, which

would make me very loony very quick. I dont like being loony. Sharon REALLY

doesnt like me to be loony. I am so glad your husband is home. I hope he will

decide to at least consider a transplant. Take care. Love Bobby

He is home!

Hi everyone!

I just wanted to update you. My husband was released today, after losing over

20 pounds in 24 hours (they weighed him there). It made a tremendous difference,

between the paracentesis and the Lasix. Normal dose of Lasix is 20 mg/day. He

received 240 mg in 24 hours and peed every half hour for hours on end.

He is doing better emotionally too. Told me today that does want to live and is

going to make positive changes, tho he doubts he can follow everything the docs

want to a " T " , and I am so pleased he is willing to make changes. I was

surprised he was even willing to admit that he needs to take more initiative

regarding his health.

He looks better, not just his physical body, but his eyes show life and he was

cracking jokes today. It almost felt like I had my husband back that I have not

seen in a very, very long time.

They discharged him with TEN prescriptions. Talk about polypharmacy! I think the

Lactulose will be very difficult for him to take. They did not start him on it

in the hospital, but discharged him with a script for it, (which I think was

kind of stupid). Please say a prayer that he can deal with it.

He also told me today that he knows he will likely be a repeat customer getting

the paracentesis again and again. It is not a one time fix.

I feel that he has even improved spiritually. It was funny, after of the pastors

came and visited he prayed that the diuretics would work and he would lose the

fluid. It wasn't but five minutes before he had to pee with a vengeance! Before

that he had taken the Lasix but there was no urge to pee. He loved seeing the

immediate answer to prayer.

He has to follow up with a gastroenterologist on Monday. We should get the

results of the paracentesis tests and other cultures and titers that they did. I

am hoping we get some real answers.

Oh, the discharge doc released him with some good pain meds. This is such a

relief. I did not know what he would do if they did not give him anything.

, this is such great news. I'm very happy for you. My prayers

for you, your husband, and everyone else here for manageable health,

even good health if I dare ask.

God bless,

Dan
