Guest guest
Has anyone ever had a mother who's had a section, swab the baby after birth to at least give baby some of the normal flora he would get through vaginal birth? If so, where on baby would one swab? Study on this done in S america (not the swabbing, just the facts about what baby is normally colonized with vs what baby gets/doesn't get with C-sec) and I have the link just not the time right now to put in this email, so if interested can forward to you. (I emailed but haven't heard from her, for she's the first one years ago who brought this to my attention in a conference of hers.) Thanks! Guest guest
no research to quote right now but have heard of lightly dragging a receiving blanket across the anogenital/perineal area and then using that to wrap/dry baby.....so full skin contact with blanket is received. don't know anyone who has done it but def read about it..... i would guess the hands are particularly important and that breast crawl/baby-led and mother supported skin to skin with baby doing regular hand/mouth/breast movement is important but that is a guess. take care beth Beth McMillan BA IBCLC Ottawa, Ontario c sec and lack of normal infant colonization Has anyone ever had a mother who's had a section, swab the baby after birth to at least give baby some of the normal flora he would get through vaginal birth?
