Guest guest
Betsy- We haven't started the TD-DMPS yet, but when I was trying out glutathione cream for the first time a few weeks ago, this is very much what we were seeing - willful, obstinate, uncooperative - but still pretty cheerful! behavior. I've stopped it temporarily, but will start up again, but with much smaller amount and less frequent application (it is prescribed as 1/2 ml twice a day - I will probably start with a speck every once a day, every other day and work up). This response sounds like what I've heard from another internet pal - I think her daughter had several weeks of adjustment behavior. > > Good morning all.... > > I started my 6 year old son on TD DMPS on Wednesday night. Guest guest
You are very welcome. Your letters have inspired me also. Although I am out here in the middle of nowhere on and Island in the middle of the Pacific I do not feel so alone in this spectrum any longer. Guest guest
, I just want to underscore the remark you made at the end of your post, as it is so important in evaluating not only chelation practices but the progress of any biomedical or relational treatment program. You said: " I attribute willfulness with our children to their recognizing that they have choices. " As our kids come out of their distant worlds and learn to connect or re-connect with us, their personalities have to go through developmental stages that they have skipped being on " hold " for months or even years in many cases. Willfulness is a natural and essential part of this development and has to do with being able to make choices as you say. Discovering one can have a significant effect on ones surroundings is a major moment in life--that never ends! One of the traditional ways teachers and writers have described a conscious person is to say they have many choices in each moment. Without will, choices cannot be made. The spiritual process of transforming personal will into some form of " Thy Will be Done... " has to begin somewhere. Jack " Capt. Sundown " wrote: Aloha and Betsy, Just wanted to pop in and offer support on the TD-DMPS. Bobby and Sethie ( my 5 and 6 year olds) have been receiving every other day therapy for approximately three months now, if I include the " off times " . Sethie was chelated for over a year , first with oral DMSA, followed by DMSA/ALA. We could not never initiate oral chelation therapy w/ Bobby due to symptoms of diarrhea which lasted over a year. I have not connected the willfullness behavior with their TD DMPS therapy. I have noticed increased side ways glancing, but this has not stopped me from continuing the treatment. So far the only thing has interupted their therapy is a respiratory type cold --- which resolved itself within days--- and Seth's symptoms of loose stools very reminiscent of his early days when he ate wheat and casein daily. This too resolved itself. On the upside, our home is filling up with all kinds of sounds from our children. Bobby is learning to sing Christmas Carols from his DVD's. And Sethie ( who perhaps has 6 or so utterances we feel are words ), is practicing the Maaa, Paaa, Daaah sounds that were once present before his vaccinations. He is sticking our his tongue more than ever. I got the first BIG Kiss from Sethie in his life, where he grabbed me by the back of my neck and pulled me to him. He cannot pucker but he pressed his mouth against my face and stared me straight in the eyes. It was almost as though he recognized whom I was for the first time. So I told him, " That's right Seth, I'm your Mommy ! " . He has been kissing me daily like this for the past week and I couldn't be more thrilled ! I attribute willfullness with our children to their recognizing that they have choices. Perhaps further investigation may yield a reason, other than chelation , which may be the antecedent to the behavior. Guest guest
We are seeing some of this in our daughter since starting a really dedicated use of enzymes. She is asserting her independence to some degree and starting to let us know her preferences. It's little things like changing a radio station in the car by herself or picking out what she wants to wear. Small steps, but giant leaps for a child who has been so in her own world. I have to remember to be patient because coming into the world for her is probably a little like an alien landing on a foreign shore. It is, I think, at times overwhelming and that is when she runs for the comfort of old behaviors. It is heartening to see a bit of the person she is behind the autism coming to life. Guest guest
I agree with this - the willfullness or obstinance is not a terrible problem, in my child's case just different from the usual routine - usually as long as we stick with the routine things go pretty smoothly. The main problematic thing for us was that this was really interfering with his ability to focus, participate and learn what he can in the school setting. But, you are so right - this feels more like the typical " twos " behavior - just peeking out at age 4+! > Aloha and Betsy, > > Just wanted to pop in and offer support on the TD-DMPS.
