Our daughter has the same problem during chelation. The urologist prescribed

DDAVP. It works great for the frequent urination and it clears a foggy brain.

She also becomes foggy when taking CLO - but does better with flax. I hope you

find a solution.

Symptoms: Oversensitive bladder + Eye itching

Dear Listmates:

I recently observed a peculiar appearance of symptoms in my 7 yr old

(PDD-NOS)when I gave him Flax oil:

1. Oversensitive bladder causing him to urinate frequently and wet

his bed at times. Even a small amt of water causes him to run to the

bathroom.

2. Eye itching: He says " My eye is hurting " and rubs his eye

frequently.

These symptoms disappear if I stop the Flax oil. The same symptoms

had appeared when we tried antiinflammatory medication called

Singulair. These symptoms always occur together, leading me to

believe that there must be some connection between them and reduction

in inflammation. When he is on Flax oil or Singulair is behaves just

like a normal child and is very aware, and amazes the therapists who

work with him. But this effect wear out leading to stimming,

misbehavior etc. after 2-3 weeks.

Has anyone had any such experience?

The only thing I came up with after some research is that Herpes

Zoster virus when activated can cause what is called as Bladder

neuralgia. Since this virus resides in the CNS it affects the bladder

and the eye through the nerves connection to these organs. Could it

be that the antiinflammatories cause the virus to be activated to

some level... any thoughts? any experiences?

Thanks,

Sangeeta

This are two symptoms of yeast overgrowth which I get. My *guess* is he has

this all the time, and only notices it when he's more aware. Maybe try the

flax with some yeast-reducing stuff and see if it helps. I use GSE, Pau

d'Arco, oregano oil, and control my carb intake.

Thanks to Shari and Liz for your replies! Much appreciated!

Dr.McCandless/Theresa: I'd really appreciate your feedback/hypothesis

as well!

Shari: Just a word of caution regarding DDAVP. The DDAVP is given to

patients with Diabetes Insipidus (not the common " SUGAR diabetes " ,

but a different kind of rare " WATER diabetes " ) as a hormone

replacement. I know this because I have this very rare medical

condition. My body doesn't make that hormone at all, never has.

However, have you checked with the doctor to check if it is okay to

give it to a child who already produces the hormone naturally. My

concern is that you child's body will start producing less and less

of this hormone if it starts getting it from an outside source

regularly. I urge you to check with an endocrinologist regarding this

if you plan on giving DDAVP longterm.

Liz: I'll look into the yeast factor.

Thanks,

Sangeeta

Thanks so much, Dr. McCandless! We have stopped the Flax oil.
