Guest guest
with permission to post from mom...got a call today about gray/greenish milk. Baby is 3.5 months old and mom had been breastfeeding fine, then a few days-a week ago, baby started refusing the breast, not wanting to latch. Mom started pumping and found her milk to be a grayish/greenish color and thinner than it had been. She said that it had been white and creamy when she pumped before. Mom says that she is taking no vitamins, meds or herbs, denies eating any green foods in excess. I have seen colostrum this " dirty dishwater' color, but not mature milk, other than greenish but due to diet/herbs, etc. My concern is that baby was refusing it from the breast. I asked mom about pregnancy, she doesn't think that she is, but will test anyway. thought maybe if preggo, milk changing to colostrum and taste changing, so baby refusing?? Have any of you ever encountered this? any thoughts? suggestions? Thanks in advance. I told mom that i would do some research and get back to her, in the mean time, encouraged her to continue pumping to keep up her supply.
