Guest guest
Hi Everyone, I've been sitting in the shadows since last Saturday, reading all the mail but not contributing. We all seem to be in " flare-ups " of our conditions to some degree. That is what has kept me out of the fray, I have been at " Club Med " ( hospital ) for yet another stay, came home on Saturday to 150 email messages. Getting through all of those was a daunting task. I had an abdominal ischemia with resulting paralysis to the right lower quadrant of my small intestine, and an acute pancreatitis. It's good to be back home and once again pumping Vital HN full strength at my maximum allowed rate of 100ml/hr. Patti, I hope you hear soon regarding the surgery date to implant the stimulator. I pray that when you get it you will finally have relief. In the meantime has your doctor okayed putting morphine in your pump? I saw my GP on Thursday and she had just received the letter from Pharmacare approving my use of the morphine patch. She gave me a script for injectible morphine again as she said she had to do the math in order to find out what dose the patch should be, right now I take 20mg morphine every 4 hrs. Said the liquid morphine wouldn't go to waste as I would need it for break through pain while she plays with dosages for the patch. Also, on Wednesday I saw the surgeon who did the repair to my intestine and bladder in May. He told me in the OR he was faced with having to make a decision because the surgery was going to be far more extensive than expected, and then explained what he had had to do. He said he was very sorry. Anatomically intimacy as we know it is now not possible. Here I was not long ago asking for advice on intimacy from you when having to deal with pain and morphine. Little did I know what was awaiting me. I am still dealing with the emotional aspects of it. Ren is very supportive and I know with time we will work through it. The last 3 nights I have had very little sleep, 2 to 3 hrs a night. I can fall asleep but can't stay asleep so I am getting exhausted. Right now I can hardly keep my eyes open to type, but once in bed I'll just toss and turn.
