Just got back from my appt with Dr. Hill - He is a keeper!!!

I could kick myself for not reminding him the first time he lowered

my meds due to my suppressed TSH that I have a pituitary tumor (AND

the last time - my mistake)! I was already prepared for " an

agrument " today - ready to raise (!*@ - I was going to demand an

increase.

Appt starts out by my telling him that I felt awful since he lowered

my meds last two times and that didn't he think that my TSH numbers

could be screwed up due to the pituitary tumor as the other numbers

were not indicative of hyperthyroidism?? UM...he looks at the labs,

then he looks at the labs from when I was at 90mg...then he looks at

the labs from when I was at 120mg (and felt great). And says yes,

the pituitary tumor is obivously effecting your TSH, as your other

numbers are just where we want them to be at 120 mg (2 grains) and

when we lowered them (lowered to 90)they decrease, and at 60mg

(1grain) they decrease again, so since the numbers change with the

decrease in meds and the TSH stays suppressed, it is not responsding

to the dosage at all and is not effected by your medication changes,

hence it is being " controlled " or effected by the tumor.

So in your case we will have to monitor your dosage by the T4 & T3

numbers and how by you feel - OMG a doctor who gets it. I just

needed to remind him. And he did tell me that I was one of those

rare patients that had some just a bit different and needed to remind

him of it and to make sure I let every other physican I saw know

about it also as it does effect how my body works.

So I have the RX I will be filling when I get off work today for 120

mg (2 grains) of Armour. I am hoping my days as a Zombie are over.

Janie,

You probably know this, but you may need to increase your Armour by 1/2

grain for a week or so then go to the 2 grains. I know from experience that

sloooowwwly is much easier on the body.
