If you have had a bad experience with a DR on the list, you need to let know!

Help please

I am sorry I don't have the expertise to help you with your medicalproblems, but I think it is important to give negative feedback about thedocs on the"top doc" list, if they are a disappointment. I went to a "top doc" who turned out to be anything but. She said shegot "lots" of patients as a result of being on that top doc list.Josie

It looks like you're converting the T4 to T3 pretty well. I know that it takes soooo much time to repair the damage. We're not talking about over night here. Also, you probably need antibody tests (you don't mention this here). Hashimoto's thyroiditis has such a swing back and forth that sometimes you don't know which end is up. I will repeat, though, you need the antibody tests, if you haven't had them already. Strange thing, some of the symptoms of hypothyroidism are also the symptoms of hyperthyroidism. The hair loss can occur from either direction, and nervousness, sleeplessness, depression, and a host of other things. You must have been going thru hell over the years, taking so long to come to a complete diagnosis and an understanding that this MUST be treated the rest of your life. The expertise each of us have here are our own experience and research, and I hope someone else here has some input on this. I know the feelings of utter despair (get down and can't get up again), and that feeling that you think you're totally losing your mind. And the doctors to stay away from are those that tell you that you are.

to start from beginning.... 8 years ago I was losing weight for unexplained reasons, had IBS , froze all the time, had a racing heart, and lost half my hair !! all for unknown reasons.back in the late 80's I had seen an endocrinologist for thyroid problems, was put on cytomel which almost killed me, so they took me off and told me to go home and just be happy.also 8 years ago I had a strange event, in the middle of august in texas heat..105-107 temps. I spent 2 days freezing to the bone, I wore a sweat suit and was under 3 blankets and an elec blanket. I could not get warm. 3rd day I was on fire, burning up, sweating so bad I was soaking my clothing and sheets etc. nothing would cool me.went to ER and they could find nothing wrong with me, told me it was my thyroid and go get it checked,.had it checked, numbers were in the 4 range, told normal go home.2 years ago, I had a period that would not stop.. it lasted 2 long years, day in day out, 120 pads per month. I was told I had hyperplasia. they never tested my thyroid, but told me most likely my progesterone was low and put me on provera pills. they caused a whole new load of problems for me,. so in 2nd year i switched to the natural cream which lessened the problems.I became very anemic, developed high blood pressure and was getting sicker by the day.in jan 2003 I was finally able to get a TSH test. my TSH was 9.31. I was sick, weak, tired, super exhausted. slept a lot and basically did not care if I lived or not. in jan-March I lost half my hair again.finally found a DR from the top doc list, in march, was put on armour 30 mg. first 2 weeks I felt wonderful. then I crashed, and spent the next 6 weeks back where I started. DR tested TSH again it was now 6.04, so she put me on 60 mg of armour... again first 2 weeks were absolutely wonderful, felt like my old self again.. then boom.. back to sqaure one. so if my numbers are coming down, why am I feeling so bad ???today I went in for follow up, new TSH is 2.047 (I dont know how they got this extra number in here) but I am so sick, weak, exhausted, feeling worse than ever before. and still losing some hair.she has switched me to synthroid 100 mcg. I will start first pill tomorrow morning.does anyone know what is going on?? why do I feel good only a short time and lose it all ??when I was put on the 60mg. my constipation cleared up, I got my apetite back, and just felt like I use to before all this started.I have now regained the constipation and apetite loss. I sleep 15-18 hours a day now, I just cant seem to wake up, I cant function.. and I dont understand why not ??on May 9th my test was;TSH 6.04 (0.40-6.00) from Lab One.FreeT3 3.7 (2.3-4.2)FreeT4 1.1 (0.8-1.8also my Uric Acid is real high, my ferritin is low and my cholesterol is low.but my platelets are high...probably due to all that bleeding.when I first started the 30 mg armour, my 2 yr long period stopped next day,. then I went 4 months with no period (not that i complained) and then in june I had a "normal" period. so it appears fixing the thyroid has fixed the female hormones.they had considered doing a hysterectomy on me back then.also ..the DR on the top doc list.. is not such a good DR. and I am wondering if there is a place where I can give my experience/report on her for the list. I think people should be warned.meanwhile.. I am in need of a new DR in 6 weeks. as I will need to be retested and dosage adjusted etc.this DR said my numbrs of 2.047 are perfect and should stay there. but I feel so bad, that I just dont want to live like this.what can I do ???Lin

Ah......I think that was somebody else.

I wonder if that does any good? I did send in a long, detailed complaint about the doc I went to, but I just went to the site, and she is still listed there with the same original letter filled with praise. The only addition is

a statement that a few people have written in to say she

does not use Armour, but check first.

I see that Marina has a couple more praise filled letters.

Are docs just never removed, I wonder?

I believe she's talking about Shoman, hostess and owner of her About.com thyroid site. Are YOU talking about Jan's list of doctors who prescribe Armour, or are you talking about 's list of docs?

Whichever list she was speaking about that the DR just used being on the list to get patients. I assumed it was about.com, but guess I was wrong.
