Some other muscle relaxants like Soma - Carisoprodol, or epam - Valium would work but they can be habit forming. Sincerely, Donovan J. M.D. Email address donavan@... Guest guest
You might try ice.Either as a compress or I like to use ice massage for muscle spasms like you describe. Take a styrofoam cup and freeze water in it util solid then trim back the cup about a inch and rub directly on the skin in a circular motion , keep moving so as not to freeze the skin until the skin is numb and reddened. Do this 3-4 x a day as needed. If the spasms are real stubborn try alteranting heat then ice then heat then ice ect. Good luck. Cherri .. 9 MED: Anyone That Can Help! Guest guest
Hi , I am sure you've had a lot of suggestions & I hope some help by now. However, here are just a few further thoughts: Flexeril is a good muscle relaxant & I doubt your doc would have much of a problem Rxing it by phone. Not addicting or caustic to stomach, but does create some depression. Well, you can't have everything, can you? Also, with flexeril, I have found the herb Gotu Kola (not a cola of any kind) seems to lessen the effect on mood. Natural things that may help: Valerian (an antispasmodic & hypnotic) and for long-term, vitamin E (Natural form, if possible) which is involved in nerve recovery. I know such spasms can be quite frightening, and it is important that they are alleviated. If they are really bad & still progressing, your doc might want to give you some other muscle relaxants & an anti-anxiety med like klonopin, which also might help with the spasms, but is a somewhat safer cousin to valium. Guest guest
Donovan, I went back to the MSU Health Center yesterday. I was given skelaxin 2 tablets 4 times a day. The first 2 helped the spasms in my back. At 8 p.m., I took 2 more skelaxin and an ambien 10 mg and I slept until 4 a.m. My neck is sore and hurting as I slept longer than I usually do. Other than that, I feel a little better. I have a home spa, but my tub is too small for me to fit into comfortably. If it was larger, I feel the home spa would work on helping relieve some of these spasms. How can I get a script for a larger home spa? -

It is a central nervous system depressant. it doesn't work directly on the muscles. Ask your doctor to write a script for a larger spa. Sincerely, Donovan P.S. They sure use strange drugs up there.
