frozen milk

I know what happens to some breastmilk when frozen and defrosted for use.  I know how to prevent it...my question is...do we have any solutions for it when it is already done?  Poor babies will not drink it! Mom is pumping for twins...tongue tied to the max boys who did not get diagnosed until two months, and even now with release and lots of body work still not doing well.  Poor momma is hoping for an answer so all that frozen milk is not going to be useless.

I will let you know if that works. Thanks.Pam

I presume there's a lipase issue? If they won't drink the milk, how about mixing it with 1/4, 1/2, 2/3 or 3/4 fresh breast milk to dilute the taste and smell. Then, use it right away!

She did try that, and it did not help.  It was my first thought too.  Yikes, a freezer full of milk, so not good. Pam

Has she tried scalding it after defrosting to see if that will help?  Sincerely, Katy , IBCLCMom & OwnerThe Stylin' Momma

Try thawing faster - not in the fridge overnight, but quickly in hot water, as quickly as possible. Lipase starts to work before the thaw is done, so the longer the thaw time, the more digestion happens.
