Guest guest
Does anyone out there experience pain in their liver because of the anti viral meds...I am currently on a Sustiva, Ziagon and epivir cocktail. My t-cell is 850 and viral load undetectable. I know I should be happy but my body is so disfigured. I have a huge buffallo hump, enlarged breasts and thinning in the arms and legs. I also have an "off the charts" cholesteral. The pain in my liver is excruciating. I am wondering if I am experiencing liver damage do to this damn lipodystrophy. Any suggestions or comments? The package included a mention that Sustiva may cause fat redistribution. I had never heard of Sustiva causing fat redistribution. Is this something new??Ed Yes, it can. It can increase LDL (bad cholesterol) and also HDL (good cholesterol), and it can cause insulin resistance (may be not as bad as Norvir containing regimens). And its effects on lipids may be worsen if you use it with Zerit. I have seen many people do well on Sustiva and not get lipodystrophy at all. They all exercised , though.
