I signed the petition to get him on the ballet...and even have a Kinky Freidman bumper sticker on my car. It's a shame the demos and repubs make is so difficult for a third party candidate to run. Guest guest
Beth, You made me cry because it is all so true. My husband, who was a geologist with the Army Corps of Engineers died of a cancer strongly associated with radiation exposure. He worked for years at the Nevada Test Site so was cognizant of the risk. One of my favorite places in the world is southern Utah -red rock country. I was told on a trip there one time that the leukemia rate there is 50 times the national average because of the strontium-90 in the milk caused by prevailing winds from the test site blowing across southern Utah. It all makes your heart ache. W. Theresa- How do you "snip?" I am stupid. I tried and it did not work -MW RE: Re: large variety of foods is the best way to go , Don't be sad...don't trade your simple life for a chase after fortune...the great American business world does not care about the world, only money. Guest guest
, you cannot change your husband but you can change you. Start reading self help books even if he doesn't or even if he criticizes you. If he or anyone else criticizes you and they have nothing then you know you are on the Right Track. I am associated with a gentleman and his family who are very wealthy and were married very young. By the time they were 27 they had seven kids. Some body came along and talked to them about having there own business and the rest is history. They had a dream and lots of ups an downs. If you really want to change your life you have to change you first. First Start measuring where you are spending your money. You can't manage it till you measure it. Second write down some realistic goals that you can achieve in the next 30 - 60- 90 days. The biggies will come later. Trying to buy a mansion with ten bucks is a liittle hard. (LOL) Third find stuff that you do not want and sell it. Have a garage sale or bake sale. If you live on a city street get your friends and neighbors involved but do it. just do it. I heard of a guy who started his own business with nothing. Five years later he still had most of it left. (LOL) 4th pay off any debts you have left by paying down the little ones first and when that one is paid off, take that money and put it on #2 if there is one and so on down the line. Pay your car loan off the same way and then the house if you are buying one. If you are renting look for one you can afford and put a down payment on it. Making some one else rich doenst cut it in my book. If you can find a duplex and can stand someone else living in your house. 5th Start reading books on Investing or going to free seminars if you can find some. There are usually some around. Even if you have to go with other people to split the cost. You can also apply for online news letters on financial stuff like I'm telling you now. This is a lot to digest and I don't expect you to be a milliionaire overnite( if you do let me know how) but you have to do some thing now and I want you to email me every day or two and let me know how you are doing. Most people do better at something if they have someone to be accountable eveyday. TC and you are a winner and I expect to be riding in your Rolls-Royce some day but mine will go faster and eat more gas. May God bless. Sincerely Carl in Hamilton. Guest guest
Beth.. This is sooo sad. We are the greatest country in the world and yet people are going without insurance and medical attention. I have a girlfriend that has a $1500 deductible on her insurance, so even though she is having pains in her chest, she won't go to the doctor because she can't afford the deductible. What good is the insurance??!! Before I retired, I worked for the state retirement system. They had us poll our non-state agency retirees (teachers, police- and firemen, city and county). Over 50% of the retirees had no insurance because they couldn't pay for it. I asked them what they would do if they had a serious disease. They said, "Pray!" I am blessed because I worked for the state for 31 years and the state supplements my insurance ($25/year up to $500/month). I only have to pay $280/month...which is ridiculous !! Who could afford that on their own? I'm afraid about the government getting involved because they usually make things worse (ie..medicare prescriptions, cable fees, No Child Left Behind). Maggie My husband has NO medical insurance...because he owned his own company and it went belly-up...so for him to have insurance it would cost us $350 a month....I have a minimal policy that doesn't kick in until $5K of my own money is paid out. Guest guest
... So true. I remember hearing about a movie (The Conqueror) that Wayne and Hayward made in the redlands of Utah while the testsite was having one their above-ground tests. The wind was blowing their way on that day. Every person on location later died of some form of cancer. The government sentenced all people at the test site to death but would never admit it. How truly sad. Maggie One of my favorite places in the world is southern Utah -red rock country. Guest guest
... You have so much going for you...you have such soul, you speak two languages which is amazing because most people in the US don't. (my French is not nearly as good as your English!!!) You can KNIT!!! I think that is SOOOO COOL! You care for your son...and you have a husband to help take care of you. You would be a WONDERFUL American citizen...and anyone that appreciates the soft, velvet of a horse's nose is special! And, six months out of the year you do have a job - that means you have 6 months of VACATION...lol, right? Kind of like teaching school...I was paid for 187 days of teaching...and that's it...teachers in Texas don't have one single paid holiday...so we are alike that way. You have a computer at home, right? And you know English so well...Why don't you teach others to use the computer...give hourly lessons...for so much an hour to supplement your income during that 6 month time. You would meet people...I could send you my curriculum that I wrote for the school district...I would not mind helping you in any way that I could. Oh, by the way, in my experience only...which is 54 years...I have to agree with Carl...a person's nature never changes...if someone APPEARS to change it's because it was "in" them all the time. And I was married 29 years and finally divorced because that man would never change...and I couldn't either. Also , I don't have Social Security either...although I do have a teacher's pension that I worked for for 26 years...and my husband doesn't either until he's 65. We also don't have medicare...until we're 65. We can't be sick til then. lol I will kiss each horse and tell them your name today - and here is our website so you can look at pictures of them: www.lackeyfarms.com Beth Betz wrote: Laurie: I have a job... a temporary one. Guest guest
Hi , I don't know what to suggest other than pick up the pace a bit. Most people walk about 4 to 5 miles per hour. I figure you are walking about one hour. Try lowering your time each week or each two weeks by 3 minutes. Then at the end of three weeks or six weeks you should be at about 50 minutes, sames steps but in a shorter time. When you reached five miles in 50 minutes then you can set another goal. Ie : adding arm swings on every five steps. I know, it's tough but a bit of imagination helps. I think I told you all about my trials and tribulations over my swimming. Today I got a new problem, I missed Good friday, and saturday(I woke up late), and I'll miss Easter Monday. The Civic Pool employees are in a government union and get the day off work. That adds up to three days, and I will have missed over 34,000 steps. Best regards Bill > > This sounds like what I am doing. Guest guest
Dear , I just I'd drop you a note to say I hope you had a great Easter. I get get the impression that you are a very happy person and That's a good way to start a successful life. From the tone of your letter you are a person I would like to meet someday. If you and your family are in the Hamilton, Ontario area some day I would enjoy very much meet all of you and your family and show you some of the things that make Hamilton special. We actually have a castle that was built by one of the former Prime Ministers' of Canada before Canada became a country way back in 1867. It was one of the few buildings with hot running water, which we now take for granted. It was owned by Sir Alan McNabb, then Prime Minister of Lower Canada (I think). We have a recreation area called Confederation Park where we can roller blade along the bay and eat fish and chips or have a meal at a restarant called Baranga's which also sits a stone's throw from the water's edge. I should also mention a thing called the Forbes 400 which is a list of the Richest people in the world. From what I have been told, the top 10 people on that list started with nothing and are now wealthy. I am not saying that money brings you happiness, it doesn't. Money only brings you more choices. I would love to give to all the money I could to all the charities that contact me but I can't. I jsut don'td have that much cash. I would like to pass on a list of 12 Keys to Real Riches from Napoleon Hill's Book Think and Grow Rich. !2 Keys to Real Riches 1. A Positve Mental Attitude 2. Sound Phyical Health 3. Harmony in Human Relations 4. Freedom from Fear. 5. Hope for future achievement. 6. Capacity for a applied faith 7. Willingness to share blessings with others. 8. Having a labor of Love. 9. Having an open mind on all subjects. 10. Complete Self discipline. 11. Wisdom to understand people. 12. Financial Security , these are only one man's opinions but since Dr. Hill himself became a " self made " millionaire ( almost impossible) they make a lot of sense to me. My downfall are #10 and 12. At 55 I have not a lot of self discipline and a little problem with ADD. I still have some debt behind me but I also have a pension from the company I work for and a small inheritance from my parents ( 1 surviving). I know that I have the ability to accomplish what ever I want and I know that if I help emough people I will eventually become financially free. I wish you all the best in whatever you choose to do with your future life and if there is anything I can do to help, please send me a note and I will do what ever I can.
