Sorry about the major diagnosis there. I am on medicaid until my medicare

kicks in 5/08. Most of the treatment centers that accept medicare will accept

medicaid also. When I had completed all my tests and requirements for the

transplant, my nurse coordinator sent a letter to medicaid who had to approve my

transplant before they would list me. But it only took a week.

When your husband gets his biopsy results back definitely ask his doc about

transplant. Is he going to a hepatologist or a GI doc?? The best is if he can go

to a hepatologist because that is the only thing they deal with. I was lucky

because my GI doc specialized in Hep C and the liver so he knew immediately,

without another biopsy, that I was in End Stage Liver Disease.

My Husband-Jay

Hello everyone, I am new to the group. My husband has just been

diagnosed with Hep C and Liver Cirrhosis. We are in a major emotional

roller coster ride, scared, and lost. His stomach started swelling up

with fluids a few months ago, and finally we went to the emergency

room, they drained him, 3 days later filled up again, drained him

again, and 5 days later (yesturday) drained him again. There is no

medical, we are using county medical and working on SSi or SSA

unsure, there is so much paperwork. What does he eat, drink? We dont

know, They keep sticking him, and telling us nothing. They are doing a

liver biopsy tomarrow, Please help us where are we, whats happening,

We are lost, very scared and very lost 8-(
