Guest guest
Hi, We did the first set of blood tests a few weeks ago, and just got back the rbc toxic elements test results. My son was low in zinc, and very low normal on many other minerals. It will be a while until we consult with our DAN dr., and I wondered if anyone knew how to interpret these results. I also am wondering the best minerals to give a 27 month old. I know that Dr. McCandless uses Pic Mins for some kids, but was concerned about the amount of manganese for a child as young as mine. I also wondered why Dr. JM prefers the Ecological formula's Cal-mag to the Everyday Companion by Kirkman. A nurse practitioner recommended a mineral supplement, but I was nervous about the ionic minerals with ingredients like tin, etc. Are those " safe " ? Lastly, I have just started a zinc cream 25 mg per dose (Key Pharmacy) and Magnesium cream. If I'm using the cream, will that be sufficient for my son's total dose? It is almost impossible to get supplements in my son. BTW, I couldn't do the ION panel since my son won't fast. I thought that the only fasting tests on that were the aminos and fatty acids, but apparently, the vitamins require fasting too. Do you know of any other labs that do non-fasting aminos, fatty acids, vitamins? Here are the results by the way: Essential Elements: Calcium 13.8 Ref: <18 Chromium .29 Ref: .25-.80 Copper .72 Ref: .52-2.00 Magnesium 44 Ref: 40-80 Manganese .31 Ref: .25-.80 Potassium 1,542 Ref: 1,000-2,500 Selenium .14 Ref:.12-.40 Vanadium .12 Ref: .10-.28 Zinc 4.5 Low Ref: 6.0-11.0 Toxic Elements: Aluminum 1.1 Ref:<3 Arsenic <.001 Ref: <.018 Cadmium: .02 Ref: <.04 Lead: .01 Ref: <.03 Mercury: .003 Ref: .010 Thanks for any help you can give! All my best, Jill
Guest guest
you could try brainchild vitamins...they are recommended for spectrum kids www.brainchildnutritionals.com we use a custom vitamin powder from metabolic maintenance based on the results of our metametrix test results. you could contact them www.metabolicmaintenance.com and fax them your test report and they can make a custom vitamin powder for your child. It cost around $80 for enough vitamin powder for several months (for our 5 year old) Margaret
Guest guest
Thanks so much for your suggestions. My son hates the brainchild taste, won't take it, and I can't seem to disguise it...and he won't drink juice, only water. I wish we had results for his vitamin/amino acid levels, but maybe we could at least get a mineral compound from met. maintenance. How does it taste? Hard to reason with a two year old with a speech delay! Guest guest
Jill, We mix the custom vitamin powder in 1 tsp of pear juice and give it to him in a medicine dropper with a glass of water directly afterwards to sip on....He is a trooper and will take it this way. I learned this way (Dr JM's tough love approach) here on this list!
